Details of Today's Reading: Clean and unclean animals, purification after child bearing, and the issue of leprosy.

Hello My Friend/Guest,
As Christians, we are to avoid every temptation that would cause us to sin, especially with the flesh, we need to feed our bodies with things that are good and holy and be careful not to defile them. We must be careful not to abuse our freedom given to us by the Lord, Jesus Christ. When Jesus redeems us He cleanses us from all of our sins, we are called His people, children of the living God, meaning that we are to be holy, just as He is holy. In other words we are to separate ourselves from the world, as those who are unclean cause us to be unclean. “And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:” - Colossians 1:21,22.

God gave the Israelites specific instructions on what food they were allowed to eat or even touch. Every creature of God's is made for a purpose, all the way down to fly. While every creature is good and pure in itself, God did not want His people to consume certain animals that would defile their bodies and make them unclean.

“And the LORD spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth. Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat. Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you...For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy. This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth: To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.” - Leviticus 11:1-4,45-47.

The key to the Israelites following this law was to make a difference, to set them apart from the rest of the world. Many of these forbidden animals were objects of superstition and idolatry to the heathen. The law forbade, not only the eating of the unclean beasts, but the touching of them as well. The laws, however, were probably primarily for sanitary reasons and necessary to the good of the people. We are no longer subject to this law, the was confirmed when Peter was hungry and looking for something to eat. “Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.” - Acts 10:12-15.

All who are conceived are born into sin, not necessarily by conception, but simply through our human nature, it seems unfair that the second we are brought into this world we are considered sinners, but this all stems from Adam and Eve. When a woman had a child she was considered unclean and had to go through a purification process. It is called the blood of her purifying because by the expulsion of unclean blood, which is done by degrees, she is purified.

“Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean. And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised. And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled. But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days.” - Leviticus 2-5.

What God is referring to here is not regarding a woman unclean from the conception of a child, she was considered unclean due to her infirmities, which is referred to as menstruation or the expelling of unclean blood, which lasted about seven days. The purifying of her blood refers to the complete purification of a woman's body after she gives birth, which took about forty days if she gave birth to a male and eighty for a female. The reason a woman had to wait twice as long was to keep the female population from getting larger than the male. Today we are cleansed by one thing, and one thing only, and that is the blood of Christ. “...and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” - I John 1:7b.

God did not just point out women, men too were to keep their bodies pure as well, if they weren't they would become leprous. “When a man shall have in the skin of his flesh a rising, a scab, or bright spot, and it be in the skin of his flesh like the plague of leprosy; then he shall be brought unto Aaron the priest, or unto one of his sons the priests: And the priest shall look on the plague in the skin of the flesh: and when the hair in the plague is turned white, and the plague in sight be deeper than the skin of his flesh, it is a plague of leprosy: and the priest shall look on him, and pronounce him unclean...And the leper in whom the plague is, his clothes shall be rent, and his head bare, and he shall put a covering upon his upper lip, and shall cry, Unclean, unclean.” - Leviticus 13:2,3,45.

Leprosy is a chronic infectious disease that affects and controls the entire body, it starts out as a small white spot then slowly eats through a persons muscle, causing the nervous system to shut down as well as hair loss and even the loss of limbs. If a person had leprosy he had to avoid everyone that was clean and yell out unclean by anyone he passed. Sin is like leprosy, it starts out small and slowly takes control of the person, and it is infectious, it causes others to sin and or be subject to the sin. “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.” - Galatians 5:19-24.

When you accept Christ as your Savior you are no longer plagued by sin, you are cleansed by His blood, the blood that He shed for you when He was crucified. It is important that, as Christians, we cleanse ourselves from the things that make us unclean. Now, we are not going to get rid of everything all at once, but when we allow Christ to live through is we step by step go through the purification process. We will never be spotless until we get to heaven, but we can feed ourselves with good, wholesome food that nourishes the mind, body, and spirit. “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.” - Psalm 24:3-5.

Jesus Christ Revealed: Today Jesus is revealed through the priest who looked on the plague after it was washed. We are washed white as snow when we ask Jesus to save us. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” - I John 1:9.

Thanks and God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina

Details of Today's Reading: The first offerings of Aaron for himself and the people, Moses and Aaron bless the people, Fire comes upon the altar from the Lord, The sin and death of Nadab and Abihu, Aaron and his sons were forbidden to mourn for Nadab and Abihu, and the eating the holy things.

Hello My Friend/Guest,
Have you ever stopped to think about how powerful things are that you can not see? For instance, the wind, you can not see it coming, but when it does, you can sure feel it, it can be quite pleasant or it can be quite dangerous. How about electricity? You can not see it, it's everywhere and very powerful, it is quite pleasant to be able to turn on a light switch, but touch a live, bare wire and it can be quite dangerous. The same thing is true with God, you can not see Him, but when He is around you know it, and it can be a pleasant or dangerous experience. The Bible says, “For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?.. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby...Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.” - Hebrews 12:6,7,11,28,29.

In the past nine chapters we have learned that, through Moses, God had explained the purpose of all the sacrificial/meat offerings and instructed the priests on the specific manner in which they were to accept and handle the offerings for themselves as well as the people. The time had come to put action to the words, in order for the priest to begin receiving the offerings they first had to be cleansed. God commanded that Moses bring Aaron, his sons, and all the elders (heads of the twelve tribes) to witness this event.

“And he said unto Aaron, Take thee a young calf for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering, without blemish, and offer them before the LORD. And unto the children of Israel thou shalt speak, saying, Take ye a kid of the goats for a sin offering; and a calf and a lamb, both of the first year, without blemish, for a burnt offering; Also a bullock and a ram for peace offerings, to sacrifice before the LORD; and a meat offering mingled with oil: for to day the LORD will appear unto you. And they brought that which Moses commanded before the tabernacle of the congregation: and all the congregation drew near and stood before the LORD. And Moses said, This is the thing which the LORD commanded that ye should do: and the glory of the LORD shall appear unto you.” - Leviticus 9:2-6.

God knew that if Moses just told the people that they were to start giving their sacrifices to Aaron or his sons that no one would believe him, so, He made sure that the elders saw this phenomenon. Did you notice that Aaron had to use a calf was added for a sin offering? Remember when he made the golden calf for the people who were complaining about Moses being gone so long? Aaron was to daily offer a calf in remembrance of that he rendered himself for ever unworthy of the honor of the priesthood, on which he had reason to reflect with sorrow and shame, through the atonement he made. This is a reminder that even though we are forgiven we still have to face the repercussions of those sins, especially if it caused others to sin. “Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.” - I Corinthians 13:6,7.

After the sacrifices were made, the glory of God appeared in the sight of the people, proving that God is a consuming fire. “And Aaron lifted up his hand toward the people, and blessed them, and came down from offering of the sin offering, and the burnt offering, and peace offerings. And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of the congregation, and came out, and blessed the people: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the people. And there came a fire out from before the LORD, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: which when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces.” - Leviticus 9:22-24.

These many sacrifices, which were all done away by the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, they teach us that our best services need a washing in His blood, and that the guilt of our best sacrifices needs to be done away by one more purer and more nobler than we could ever do. Let us be thankful that we have such a High Priest. “But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.” - Hebrews 9:11,12.

You know, sometimes we can get so hyped up about doing things for God that we do not pay attention to what we are doing for Him. Of course, God loves a cheerful and eager servant, but we need to be careful of what we do and allow ourselves to get caught up in. This proved to be the case as we read about two of Aaron's sons, Nadab and Abihu. Nadab, and Abihu were eager to show their love for God, but they failed to listen to what they were to offer up to God. “And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.” -Leviticus 10:1-3.

There are two kinds of fire, the eternal fire that comes from God and the eternal fire that comes from Satan. Satan's fire is like adding fuel to a fire, it's combustible, Nadab, and Abihu erred in offering Satan's fire before God. The sin and punishment of these priests showed the imperfection of the priesthood from the very beginning, and that it could not shelter any from the fire of God's wrath. Though Aaron's heart must have been filled with anguish and dismay, he spoke not a word to the justice served by God. We all have to be careful not to offer strange fire before God. “These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever... These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage...Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” - Jude 1:12,13,16,21.

The priests were not allowed one day's rest from serving God. While they were working they had to remain in the tabernacle. Why? It kept them separated from the corruptible dangers of the outside. “And ye shall not go out from the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: for the anointing oil of the LORD is upon you. And they did according to the word of Moses. And the LORD spake unto Aaron, saying, Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations: And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean; And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.” - Leviticus 10:7-11. God's spiritual priests are constantly at work, which the duty of every day requires, they are like an on call physician, always there to minister to those in need.

Today, all who have chosen to serve God are spiritual priests and are to remain ready to serve Him when needed. Now, this does not mean that you can not enjoy life, it just means that you will always be on call, even on vacation, so, you better be doing things morally as you are God's tabernacle. When Jesus and His disciples were picking corn to eat on the Sabbath, He said, “What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.” -Matthew 12:11,12. Even Jesus ministered to people on His day of rest, since we are to be like Christ, we too may have to minister to someone on our day of rest.

Jesus Christ Revealed: Today Jesus is revealed through the lamb sacrifice (9:3). Jesus is the lamb who became the sin offering for all who accept Him. “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” - John 1:29.

Thanks and God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina

Details of Today's Reading: God instructs Moses on the acceptable sin offering from the herds, flocks, and fowls. He continues with the meat and the peace offerings.

Hello My Friend/Guest,
As Christians we are to be the example that the world sees as a true child of God. The Bible says, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God...So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. ” - Romans 12:1,2,5. If we do not separate ourselves from the worldly things the people of the world will never understand why it is so important for them to receive Christ into their lives. The only way to be separated from the world is to offer yourself as a living sacrifice.

The Book of Leviticus is the third book of the Old Testament/Bible and contains twenty-seven chapters, the time line for these events were approximately 1490 B.C. This is a continuation of Exodus and Numbers, the author of the book is Moses and it was written to the people of Israel. This book was a manual of worship for Israel, it was provided to give them instructions on how a sinner could fellowship with God. The purpose of the book was to show Israel how to live as a holy nation in fellowship with God and to prepare them to extend God's plan of redemption to all nations. What we are to learn from the book is that God only redeems and fellowships with us if we go to Him willingly. “If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD.” - Leviticus 1:3

The first three chapters of the Book of Leviticus explain the offerings that the people were to bring to God in order to be able to fellowship with Him, the offerings were actually voluntary and set according to a persons wealth, if one was not able to afford cattle to offer as a sacrifice, God allowed what they could afford. He gave every person the opportunity to be redeemed from their sins, regardless of their financial status. “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” - II Peter 3:9.

The sin offering was to be of animal flesh, it had to be a male under a year old without one spot on it, the person had to offer the offering willingly as a payment for sin. Once he brought the offering he had to place his hand upon the sacrifice and offer it in place of himself. Once the offering was accepted, he had to kill the animal and hand it over to the priests where they would clean it up and place it upon the altar to be a burnt offering unto God.

“Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the LORD, ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of the herd, and of the flock. If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD. And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him. And he shall kill the bullock before the LORD: and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall bring the blood, and sprinkle the blood round about upon the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.” - Leviticus 1:2-5.

We can all praise God that we no longer have to do this to be forgiven of our sins. Jesus Christ took the place of the animal by giving Himself as an offering. God will forgive anyone who comes to Him through His Son, but he must come to Him of his own free will. “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” - John 3:17,18.

The meat offering was not the flesh of an animal it was vegetables, flat bread, or crackers, baked or fried in olive oil and spices, this was the only offering offered that was able to enter the tabernacle. It was offered to God as a way to show thanks for the atonement as well as all that God had given them. It represents presenting the body as a living sacrifice.

“And when any will offer a meat offering unto the LORD, his offering shall be of fine flour; and he shall pour oil upon it, and put frankincense thereon: And he shall bring it to Aaron's sons the priests: and he shall take thereout his handful of the flour thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof; and the priest shall burn the memorial of it upon the altar, to be an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD: And the remnant of the meat offering shall be Aaron's and his sons': it is a thing most holy of the offerings of the LORD made by fire. And if thou bring an oblation of a meat offering baken in the oven, it shall be unleavened cakes of fine flour mingled with oil, or unleavened wafers anointed with oil...And if thy oblation be a meat offering baken in the fryingpan, it shall be made of fine flour with oil...As for the oblation of the firstfruits, ye shall offer them unto the LORD: but they shall not be burnt on the altar for a sweet savour. And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt. And if thou offer a meat offering of thy firstfruits unto the LORD, thou shalt offer for the meat offering of thy firstfruits green ears of corn dried by the fire, even corn beaten out of full ears.” - Leviticus 2:1-4,7,12-14.

Everything that was presented to God had to be salted with fresh salt, salt is used as for seasoning and preserving food, it brings life and flavor to a meal, it also is necessary for our bodies, and has many cures. As Christians we are the salt of the earth, a group of people regarded as the finest of our kind. Since we are the salt of the earth we have to be careful not to become stale. “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men...Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” - Matthew 5:13,19.

The peace offering was to be if animal flesh, it could be a male or female, but it had to be spotless. This was an offering given after the sin offering and meat offering for one to be able to communicate and fellowship with God.

“And if his oblation be a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offer it of the herd; whether it be a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the LORD. And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron's sons the priests shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about. And he shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire unto the LORD; the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards, And the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away...And the priest shall burn them upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire for a sweet savour: all the fat is the LORD's. It shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that ye eat neither fat nor blood.” - Leviticus 3:1-4,16,17.

The word oblation means to offer it willingly, today, the same rules apply, we still need to seek forgiveness for our sins, we still need to offer ourselves as a living sacrifice, and we still need to do both to be able to communicate and fellowship with God. The only difference is that Jesus paid the price for our sins permanently, that is if we call on Him to save us. Without Jesus we can not male that payment and receive atonement for our sins. It is only by grace that we are saved, not by how much we do for God. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” - Ephesians 2:8,9.

Jesus Christ Revealed: Today Jesus is revealed through the Meat offering, which was made without leaven, a symbol of sin. “Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:” - I Corinthians 5:7.

Thanks and God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina

Details of Today's Reading: God gives Moses commands on when to set up the tabernacle and how to hollow the priests, Moses sets up the tabernacle, and the glory of the Lord fills the tent.

Hello My Friend/Guest,
A dwelling is a building or place of shelter to live in, the Bible says, “And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” - Revelation 21:3,4. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, you are God's tabernacle, He dwells with you. At times it may feel like God is no where to be found, but He never leaves those who trust in His Son. One day, you will feel no more pain or sorrow, you will rejoice as you enter the Kingdom of God.

After the completion of all the materials needed for the tabernacle, the command was given by God to Moses to set up the dwelling of the tabernacle on the first day of the first month.

“And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, On the first day of the first month shalt thou set up the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation. And thou shalt put therein the ark of the testimony, and cover the ark with the vail...And thou shalt take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is therein, and shalt hallow it, and all the vessels thereof: and it shall be holy.” - Exodus 40:1-3.

God will dwell with those who prepare Him a habitation, He will only dwell in a holy place. Where God has a throne and an altar in the heart, there is a living temple in which the Spirit will be manifested. Now, if a saved person is living in sin, God will turn His back to that person. Who wants to see someone committing sin? He will allow a person to go so far before He says, “That's enough!” and He will place some kind of tragedy before him to get him to see that it's time to listen to me now. I am a witness to that. “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy...Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?” - I Peter 4:12,13,16,17.

Once the tabernacle was set up Moses had to cleanse the priests before they could enter the building. “And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and wash them with water. And thou shalt put upon Aaron the holy garments, and anoint him, and sanctify him; that he may minister unto me in the priest's office. And thou shalt bring his sons, and clothe them with coats: And thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office: for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.” - Exodus 40:12-15.

Whenever we go before God we need to be cleansed, to be cleansed you simply repent, ask God to forgive you of your sins. Once you ask for forgiveness, you can go before God and He will minister to you. Now, if you have lived in sin after you get saved, that does not mean you need to get saved again. One you are saved, God never leaves you, but you still need to repent. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” - I John 1:9.

The first day of the month was here and Moses set up the tabernacle just as God commanded, shortly after God moved in His dwelling place.

“And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was reared up...Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys: But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up. For the cloud of the LORD was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.” - Exodus 40:17,34-38.

The cloud covered the tabernacle even in the clearest day, it was not a cloud which the sun scatters. This cloud was a token of God's presence to be seen day and night, by all Israel, that they might never again question, Is the Lord among us, or is he not? It guided the camp of Israel through the wilderness. While the cloud rested on the tabernacle, they rested, when it moved, they followed it. The glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. What the glory cloud was to the tabernacle, the Holy Spirit is to every person who receives the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior. “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are...And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's.” - I Corinthians 3:16,17,23.

When the Spirit of God dwells in you and you allow Him to work in you and amazing transformation happens. One that you learn is better than you can imagine. I taught the kids in my Sunday School class that when God is inside you we are like a caterpillar who is transforming into a butterfly. The cocoon that the caterpillar dwells in shelters him and keeps him safe for the transformation. When God dwells in us we are in His cocoon, as long as we remain in the cocoon we will grow and transform into a beautiful butterfly. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” - Romans 12:1-3.

Jesus Christ Revealed: Today Jesus is revealed through Aaron as the high priest (40:13). Jesus is our high priest, “But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;” - Hebrews 9:11.

Thanks and God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Details of Today's Reading: Moses and the willing Israelites continue to finish building the tabernacle, the ephod is built, and the tabernacle is complete.

Hello My Friend/Guest,
The word labor is defined as productive activity, physical or mental work, working for wages. How many of us can actually say that we are getting paid the wages we deserve for the activity we produce? Some may say, “I do not get paid enough”, some may say “I have a great paying job”, but what most will not say is,” I am getting paid too much.”The Bible says, “Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building...Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.” - I Corinthians 3:8,9,13-15. The fire is God, the wages we earn come from God, the more we labor in God's will the more we receive. Sometimes we are paid too much and suffer a loss because we simply stop doing the labor, sometimes God tests us by not paying us enough to see if we will remain faithful to our job. When you least expect it God will say, “You reward has come”.

God instructed Moses on how He wanted His dwelling place to be built, people willingly gave items and helped construct the pieces, they did the labor necessary to complete the tabernacle exactly to God's specifications. Moses built the altar of burnt offering.

“And he made the horns thereof on the four corners of it; the horns thereof were of the same: and he overlaid it with brass. And he made all the vessels of the altar, the pots, and the shovels, and the basons, and the fleshhooks, and the firepans: all the vessels thereof made he of brass. And he made for the altar a brasen grate of network under the compass thereof beneath unto the midst of it.” - Exodus 38:2-4.

The altar of burnt offering was a foreshadow of Christ, every piece represents Christ offering Himself as the sacrifice that would put an end to need for sacrificing animals. “For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect...For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:” - Hebrews 10:1,4,5.

The workmen took great care to make all according to God’s will, God delights in sincere obedience and keeps exact account of it. Now, came the time for the ephods to be built, the garments that the priests would wear when doing service for God.

“And of the blue, and purple, and scarlet, they made cloths of service, to do service in the holy place, and made the holy garments for Aaron; as the LORD commanded Moses. And he made the ephod of gold, blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen. And they did beat the gold into thin plates, and cut it into wires, to work it in the blue, and in the purple, and in the scarlet, and in the fine linen, with cunning work...The cloths of service to do service in the holy place, and the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and his sons' garments, to minister in the priest's office. ” - Exodus 39:1-3,41.

Before the priests were even able to minister to people they had to be cleansed and apply these garments on them. Those that wear robes of honor must look upon them as clothes of service, for those whom such a honor is given, from them service is expected. Holy garments were not made for men to sleep in, but to do service in, and then they are indeed for glory and beauty. These also foreshadowed Christ. “And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.” - Luke 5:36. All believers are spiritual priests, they are cleansed, and their holy, priestly garments are applied to them. All who converse with you should be able to see that you are properly clothed as God’s representatives.

Finally, the tabernacle is complete, all the people gather around to see the amazing place they built for God. “According to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so the children of Israel made all the work. And Moses did look upon all the work, and, behold, they had done it as the LORD had commanded, even so had they done it: and Moses blessed them.” - Exodus 39:42,43.

God never lets our labor go unnoticed, He always rewards us for the things that we do for Him, He may makes us wait a while, but He never goes back on His promises. “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” - Hebrews 11:6.

There is one things that we can never do enough work for and that is our salvation. We have all come short of that glory, even the tiniest little white lie is sin to God. God despises sin and because of that no amount of work can be done to pay for the wages of sin.”For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” - Romans 3:23.

Jesus is the only one who can pay the wages of sin for us, He paid for it by giving His life for us. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” - Ephesians 2:8,9.

Now, once you get saved, that is when your labor counts and your rewards come, your first as far most greatest reward is eternal life and the Kingdom of God in heaven, but your blessings here on earth come as we do the things we do in God's will. We can still have the things we have in God's will, in fact, He gives us better things. “Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” - Psalm 37:3,4. Praise God!

Jesus Christ Revealed: Today Jesus is revealed through the altar of burnt offering. “By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” - Hebrews 10:10.
