Details of Today's Chapters: Why Christ assumed a human body, Christ's superiority to angels and Moses, salvation, and Christ, our High Priest.

Hello My Friend/Guest,
The Book of Hebrews is the nineteenth book of the New Testament, the fifty-eighth book of the Bible, and contains thirteen chapters. The author of this epistle (letter) was Paul and it was written to the Hebrew (Jewish) believers. The purpose of the letter was to present Jesus Christ as superior over all. What we are to learn from it is that Jesus is the mediator of a better covenant established on better promises. “But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.” - Hebrews 8:6,7.

We hear a lot about angels throughout the Old and New Testaments, it was angels who delivered Lot out of Sodom. It was angels who began ministering to Jesus following His 40 day fast in the wilderness, it was an angel who delivered Peter from prison. We can pretty much see that angels have a special place with God and are called to assist Him in many ways. We too can find comfort in angels as they minister to all who are saved. However, angels can not compare to Jesus Christ and the love, guidance, and power that He has above all things. "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him...Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?" - Hebrews 1:3-6,14.

There was a time before Christ that we were not even allowed to speak to God one on one. If a person wanted to communicate with God he had to go to the Temple, stand before the high priest, confess all his sins, bring an unblemished animal to sacrifice, and tell him your prayer and they would speak to God for you. However, today we are blessed that we no longer have to do all these things because all who accept Christ as their Savior are able to speak directly to Him. Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” - John 14:12-14.

We, who are heirs of Salvation through faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ are surrounded by angels that protect us. Even when it seems that Satan has devastated our lives, God, who created and rules the universe, in His own way causes the works of Satan and the wrath of men to further His ultimate will for each one of us. "Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings."- Hebrews 2:7-10.

Although Jesus was superior to the angels He had a great love for us and willingly allowed Himself to be a little lower than the angels in order to suffer death so that we can be saved. Christ died for everyone, for the Jew and Gentile, and even the Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, and Evolutionists. Any person regardless of how they were brought up can be perfected through Christ's sufferings on the cross. “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” - I John 5:11-13.

Consider the honors given to Moses who delivered Israel from Egypt. Through him the whole Levitical order, the Tabernacle, and the formal worship system were instituted, but Christ delivers all who receive Him. "Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house. For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God. And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after; But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end." - Hebrews 3:1-6.

Today, we no longer have to go to a Temple to seek God, all who are saved become His Temple. “Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?...Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your's;..And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's. ” - I Corinthians 3:13-16,21,23. Praise God!

Be blessed, enjoy the rest of your day/night and have a great week.
Merry Christmas, remember, Jesus is the reason for the season.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
