Details of Today's Reading: God speaks from Mount Sinai and speaks the ten commandments, the laws and judgments of God.

Hello My Friend/Guest,
The word law is defined as the principles and regulations established in a community by some authority and applicable to its people, whether in the form of legislation or of custom and policies recognized and enforced by judicial decision. Our authority is God, whether we choose to believe that or not, God is in control of everything. Our judge is Jesus Christ and one day Jesus will return and when He does we will all stand before our Him in a court of law. The people are every soul God created. The Bible says, “For there is no respect of persons with God. For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.” - Romans 2:11-13. To be justified means to be cleared of all the charges. When you stand before Jesus, will you be cleared of all the charges against you?

I am not going to be the first to tell you that I understand all of the laws that God enforced, but I can tell you that whatever God does it is for a purpose and all He is really out to get from us is someone who is faithful and has some morals about them. God Himself spoke to the Israelites from a mountain, He told them His first ten commandments.

“And God spake all these words, saying, I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.” - Exodus 20:1-6.

The very first command is not to place any other gods before Him, gods are not necessarily literal gods, but people, careers, hobbies, sports, addictions. Anything that takes top priority above God is seen as a god to Him. Look at it this way, God sees us as partners in a marriage, a marriage is simply a union between two people. So, the second you call on Jesus Christ to save you you enter a marriage with Him, a union. If you are married or are in a relationship with someone then you know the second they even talk to someone who has been flirty with them you get jealous. God is the same way, He wants you faithful to Him. Jesus said, “There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.” - Mark 10:29,30.

Incidentally, do you see all the statues out there representing heaven and hell? More importantly heaven, people bow down to them all the time. All of them, including the virgin Mary, angels, and crucifixes are graven images that we are not to bow down to. Mary was not a saint, she was just like you and I, she just found favor with God as He does everyone who is faithful to Him. Crucifixes are a representation of Christ dying on the cross, He is no longer on the cross nor in the grave, therefore, we are to bow down to the living God, not a cross that He is no longer on. “Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God.” - Leviticus 26:1. It is good to have these images to show us all that Jesus went through and remind us what He did for us, they are visuals not to be worshiped, but only to be recognized.

As the Israelites heard the thundering, lightening, and all the noise they were scared and were afraid to even speak to God, but Moses calmed them down, told them not to be afraid, and explained to them why God was enforcing these laws.

“And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off. And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die. And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not. And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was. And the LORD said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven. Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold. An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.” - Exodus 20:18-24.

God hates sin, yes, He is a forgiving God, but He rather us not sin at all than have to go before Him in constant confession. God enforces laws upon us to protect us and keep us from hurting ourselves. We are the ones who suffer from the stupid mistake we make, but we do not have to. We are to daily offer ourselves as a living sacrifice, in doing so, we not only keep ourselves from falling into sin, God will truly bless us for it too. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” - Romans 12:1,2.

The next two chapters are about God's judgments upon the people over servants, neighbors, possessions, and even morality. “Now these are the judgments which thou shalt set before them...And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life, Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe. And if a man smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye's sake.” - Exodus 21:23-26. This is an illustration of reaping what you sow, while God gets the vengeance, what ever you do to someone will come back at you. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” - Galatians 6:7-9.

Today, if you stood before God, would you be cleared of all the charges that are brought before you? You can be. Simply call on Jesus and ask Him to save you. Only by the grace of God can we be justified. “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” - Galatians 2:16.

Why are we now justified by grace and not the law? God saw that no matter how much He tried to enforce the laws that there were not keeping people from committing sin, which death is the penalty for sin. Therefore, He sent Jesus to save us rather than trying to follow all these rules. Now, just because we are saved that does not mean that it is just a get out of jail for free card. If you are saved and still living in sin, God will place judgment upon you before He allows you to come to paradise. “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.” - I Peter 4:17-19.

Jesus Christ Revealed: Today Jesus is revealed through the Ten Commandments. Jesus was perfect and without sin and also gave us a new Commandment, "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." John 13:34.

Thanks and God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
