Man Made Gods

Message Title: Man Made Gods

Hello My Friend,

God may have chosen Israel to put His name out there as the one and only Living God that blesses those that trust in Him, but they were to be the example for the rest of the nations to follow. Whenever I see the name Israel in the Bible I put my own country there because just as Israel was blessed when they trusted God so is every other nation. Likewise, if the nation rejects God it gets judged, much of the wars, natural disasters, and chaos of the world today is God's judgment upon that nation. The more the nation pushes God out the more it is going to get judged, but there is an upside to all of this, God's people, those in Israel or any other nation who believe in and have received Christ will be saved from that judgment. “In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me. Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue. What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue? Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.” - Psalms 120:1-4.

Those coals of juniper are a shadow of what is to come of so called men of God, who are leading and deceiving billions of people with their lies. Willfully ignoring and ignorance to the truth does not save anyone, in fact, unbelief in the truth is just as bad as believing their lies, it all sends people straight to hell. “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” - Revelation 21:8.

Throughout the Bible you will often read that God is above all gods or something similar. There is only One God, who is alive, and the Creator of all things, any other god a man made god. People make gods out of everything, objects, statues, pictures, people, but their god will never save their soul. Only coming to the Living God can a soul be saved. “Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us. Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt. Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.” - Psalms 123.

A lot of saved Christians really do believe that they are serving the Living God, but sadly, they are serving a false god. Often man made gods are created when people want to live in sin, yet want God in their lives too, they justify their actions by creating a God that would be okay with their living in sin. Yet God's mercy still endures, even when we are not living the way God wants us to live. “If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say; If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us: Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us: Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul: Then the proud waters had gone over our soul. Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.” - Psalms 124:1-6.

Believe it or not, anything can become a persons god, a love interest, a career, a hobby, money, possessions, anything that is worshiped more than God Himself becomes a man made god. How does this happen? The soul desires life and when it is feeling lifeless it will either look to the flesh or the Spirit (which is God) to find life. If one is seeking life through the things of the flesh than the soul thirsts for more to fulfill the flesh, and this is where so many faithful Christians turn from the Living God to a man made god, they still want God in their lives, but they also want to fulfill their flesh. “For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.” - Galatians 5:17.

We must remember that anything we do under the hand of God will prosper, if we do it on our own, it will not. “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep. Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” - Psalms 127:1-3.

People can trust in their false gods all they want, they can trust in their fame, fortune, talents, or success, but unless they know the Living God they will not be apart of His heritage. “Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.” - 1 Timothy 6:17-19.

The most important thing of all is knowing the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, He alone is the only way to reach the Living God. Without Jesus everything just exists, you might enjoy things for a season, but it will not last. True hope and faith only comes through Jesus Christ who gives us life through His death, burial, and resurrection. If you have been taught anything else you have been lied to and are trusting in a man made god. “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” - I John 5:11-13.

Today's Prayer: God, Thank You for sending Your Son to make it easier to have a relationship with You. While I do not always understand the things I go through, I know that with patience and faith You will give me the victory. Lord, lead me and guide me, let me learn to completely trust in You, the only living God, let me not make man made gods out of anything that seems to bring me comfort, but trust only what You can give me comfort in. In Jesus' name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
