Justified By Faith

Chapters: Galatians 1-3
Message Title: Justified By Faith

Hello My Friend,

The Book of Galatians is the ninth book of the New Testament, forty-eighth book of the Bible, and contains six chapters. The author of this epistle (letter) is Paul and it was written to the believers of Galatia. Paul wrote this letter during his third trip to Corinth, around 60AD. The purpose of the letter was to correct the false teaching of Jewish legalism that got mixed in and was now a part of the Christian Church. What we are to learn from the book is that Christ ended the need to be justified by the law, we are justified by faith alone in the finished work of Christ on the cross, and not by our own works. “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” - Galatians 2:16.

I told you about this stupid movie I was watching about Mary and Jesus, the focus of the story was Mary, and it like many today portray her as being perfect and sinless. Can I tell you that Mary was a sinner just like the rest of us. She too had to believe in the promise that the baby God placed in her would save her from hell. She wasn't perfect, but she did have God's favor. Yes, she followed the law of Moses while she reared up Jesus because they were still under the law then, but she was headed for the same punishment as the rest of us if she didn't believe. The churches of Galatia were formed by both converted Jews and Gentiles, somehow the Gospel got distorted and the churches began following another gospel, which stated that a person was saved and only remained justified of their salvation by continued works of the law. Paul fusses at the Galatians for altering the Gospel, reminding them that there is only one Gospel, and that we are not saved by any works of the law.

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.” - Galatians 1:6-12.

or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel” Not everyone who claims to know Christ and be saved are of Christ, there are many fallen angels our there working for the devil deceiving people into believing their gospel. There is only one gospel and that is the death, burial, and resurrection of our sinless Saviour. Jesus did away with the need to follow the law of Moses with His death, He was the final atoning perfect lamb sacrifice needed for the death angel to passover all who have His blood applied to our souls. “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:” - 1 Peter 1:18,19.

Justified, To prove or show to be just, or conformable to law. To pardon and clear form guilt; to absolve or acquit from guilt and merited punishment, and to accept as righteous on account of the merits of the Saviour by the application of Christ's atonement to the offender. When we believe in the finished work of Christ, admit we are a sinner, confess that we need Jesus to save us, and accept Him as our Saviour we are justified, acquitted of the punishment placed upon us for sin. Paul reminds the Jews that if they who knew the law didn't follow the law themselves how do they expect the Gentiles to follow it. It's not the law that justifies, it's knowing Christ.

And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation. But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews? We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.” - Galatians 2:13-17,21.

then Christ is dead in vain.” If we are still under the law than Christ died in vain, His beatings, harsh punishment, hanging on the cross, thorns in His flesh were worthless. To the Christ dying on the cross was worthless, but He is not to those who believe, it is life and liberty from the guilt and shame of sin. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.” - Romans 5:8,9.

In this world of disbelief in a God they can't see, how can they believe in a man who gave His life to redeem them bound for hell? Nevertheless, Jesus died for every soul. Therefore, if a person somehow escapes the pull of this world, and believes in Christ, then why would they trust anyone telling them they need to follow a bunch of rules to keep their salvation? Paul fusses at the Galatians for bringing this in the church and reminds them of the promise that God gave Abraham.

This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain. He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.” - Galatians 3:2-7,27-29.

And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed,” Father Abraham had many sons, many sons had father Abraham, I am one of them and do are you, so, let's just praise the Lord! We who believe in Christ are one of those specs of sand that were promised to Abraham, but he had faith that He would be a father of many nations. The only children Abraham ever saw on earth was Issac, Jacob, and Esau, but every day he meets more of his children in heaven. You see, we all have to believe in Christ, not just us born under the New Testament, but all who found favor in God. If a person truly wanted God in their life, they would believe in Christ, even if they were following the law. Those who love God go where He goes and do what He tells them to do, if He says that our salvation was paid for by His Son, and He alone is all that is needed for our redemption than we do it. “And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.” - James 2:23,24.

Today's Prayer: God, It's unbelievable to think that we don't have to do anything to be saved except believe in Your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You, Jesus for making such a great sacrifice for us, we are not worthy to receive such a gift, but You offer it freely to anyone who comes to You by faith. Lord, as I live my life for You, keep me grounded in this truth, never let me fall into a false gospel, and never let me turn anyone down from knowing the truth. Let me be a witness and testimony of Your wonderful love and grace. I love You, Lord and pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
