Genesis: In The Beginning

Message: Genesis: In The Beginning

Hello My Friend,

The Book of Genesis, which means beginnings, is the first book of the Old Testament and Bible, and contains fifty chapters. The author of the book is Moses, and the timeline for these events took place approximately between 4004 BC and 1689 BC. The purpose of the book was to preserve the historical background of Israel and record the beginning of creation, sin, redemption, and God's dealings with man. What we are to learn from the book is that God is the creator of all things, and His plan from the beginning included all nations, not just Israel. “And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;” - Genesis 26:4.

Happy 2016! I happened to watch an old Bugs Bunny cartoon that referenced the evolution of the earth. I also remember in elementary school seeing one of those stupid charts showing a monkey evolving into a man. Even back then I paid no attention to it because I thought is was absurd, even though all I knew about God back then was that He was in heaven. God used Moses to pen down what is in the Book of Genesis around 1500 BC, that was well before he existed, but God knew it was necessary that mankind know exactly where they came from as well as everything else on the earth. Just like we have a beginning, so did the earth and in six twenty-four hour days, God created the entire earth, of it's own kind, including man made in His image.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.” - Genesis 1:1-5,26,27,31.

and, behold, it was very good.” God saw everything He made and it was very good, every person, animal, and plant is unique and created after it's own kind, that means that one specie can in no way be made from another one. Yes, there can be different breeds, but a cow cannot mate with a pig and make something in the form of the two. It is the ignorance and corruptible imaginations of so called wise men that try to convince people that they evolved from some amoeba, living organism rather than admit they have a Creator, and their Creator is God. “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.” - Romans 1:20-23.

I always say, that even if it were possible that life itself formed from a spec someone had create the spec. God goes into further detail of what we all started as, dirt, and talk about a spec. God breathed into the nostrils of a lifeless mold of dust and in an instant, a living soul was given to man. “These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.” - Genesis 2:4-9.

and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.” The tree of knowledge of good and evil, one can wonder why God placed something forbidden in the midst of paradise in the first place, but think about this. God saw everything that He had made and it was very good, but that does not mean everything is good for us. Some people are allergic to certain foods, if they eat them they will surely die, that does not mean it was not something good, it means their bodies cannot handle it. This is the same reason why God did not want them to eat of the fruit of the tree of good and evil, their bodies would not be able to handle it. We must have boundaries, God does not place them on us to tempt us or keep us from living life, He does it so we can live the best life we can without any needless suffering. Unfortunately, Adam and Eve will find out the suffering not only they, but all of mankind will face for crossing the one boundry they had. “Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye. Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart. Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman: That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.” - Proverbs 7:2-5.

I imagine God did place the tree in the midst of them to see if they would obey and trust their Creator, however, they were not alone, someone was with them, it was the devil. And he was angry at His Creator, he was so angry that he formed a plan to curse the only thing God created in His image, he used a snake to speak to Eve and tempt her into eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.” - Genesis 3:6-13.

Hast thou eaten of the tree,” Do you think that God did not know what they did? Of course, He knew, and even though they were scared to face God, I imagine He would not have been so hard on them had they told Him the truth. They not only hid it, they put the blame on someone else. I do not think they realized the impact of their one tiny act of disobedience, but it was huge. They died that day, not a physical death, a spiritual one, meaning God removed His Spirit from their soul. Why? God saw the sin nature of the very creature He made in His image and couldn't bare to keep His Spirit upon it. He could have destroyed everything He created at that moment, but He chose to make a way for His Spirit to enter those who believe in Him, and that would be His Son, Jesus Christ. Now, we have choice, and must be born again if we want God's Spirit to enter us and make Him one of His. “Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.” - John 3:7,8.

Today's Prayer: God, Thank You for endings and new beginnings, for the hope of eternal life and giving us Your truths to live by. Without You all is dark and void, but with You we can see the Light and a great year ahead. Lord, watch over us, guide us, and help us walk in the Light throughout 2016, give us peace, comfort, and hope for a great and prosperous year. Remind us how fortunate we are to know Your Son, and never let us forget that everything You make is good, but not everything is good for us. In Jesus' name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
