Message: Joshua: Take Your Inheritance

Hello My Friend,

You know, with all the uncertainties of life, as born again believers we know one thing is certain, when this part of life is over we will be in the presence of our King. We have great things awaiting us, Jesus is preparing a place for us. “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” - John 1:1-3.

As born again believers we inherit something that no person who knows Christ will ever get, the Kingdom of God. How much we receive is determined by what we do for God after we are saved. Yes, while our salvation has nothing to do with our works, it is our works after we are saved that do give us more of that inheritance. Now,
Joshua continues to distribute the amount of land given to the Israelites as God commanded. He begins with the tribe of Judah, Caleb being part of Judah, distributes his inheritance to all his kin. Each tribe was told to drive out the Canaanites already residing there, Caleb gets right to work and was able to drive out quite a few, he decided to have a contest, the man who takeovers the city of Kirjathsepher gets his daughter to wife.

And the west border was to the great sea, and the coast thereof. This is the coast of the children of Judah round about according to their families. And unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the LORD to Joshua, even the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hebron. And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjathsepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife. And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife. And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou? Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.” - Joshua 15:12-19.

Give me a blessing;” Did you know that you do not have to wait to be in the presence of Jesus to receive His blessings? Anything you ask in the name of Jesus you will receive? The key, believe. We are to live our lives as if the thing we are asking has already come to pass, so, if you pray believing and in the name of Jesus, it will surely come. When and how, that is for God to decide, but as long as we believe we will receive it. “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” - John 14:12-14.

You know, the things we inherit have nothing to do with our worth, abilities, or works, but everything to do with who we came from. Since all who are saved and born again become heirs with Christ that means we receive part of His inheritance. Now, it was time for Joseph's tribe to receive their inheritance, since they were made up of Joseph's sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, they got two separate areas.

So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance. And the border of the children of Ephraim according to their families was thus: even the border of their inheritance on the east side was Atarothaddar, unto Bethhoron the upper; And the border went out toward the sea to Michmethah on the north side; and the border went about eastward unto Taanathshiloh, and passed by it on the east to Janohah; And it went down from Janohah to Ataroth, and to Naarath, and came to Jericho, and went out at Jordan. And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.” - Joshua 16:4-7,10.

took their inheritance.” Are you ready to take your inheritance? If you believe in Jesus and have received Him as your Saviour, your inheritance is waiting for you. You know, God has so much room in His Kingdom that He has enough for every single person born, the sad thing is that many will not take it. Interestingly, what one has lost, it will be given to another. “For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” - Matthew 25:29,30.

Now, the tribe of Joseph got their inheritance, but since they did not drive out any of the people they had problems. They came to Joshua demanding more land because they were overcrowded and scared of the Canaanites. Joshua was himself of the tribe of Ephraim, but was not going to support their demands.

And Joshua answered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee. And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Bethshean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel. And Joshua spake unto the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot only: But the mountain shall be thine; for it is a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.” - Joshua 17:15-18.

Thou art a great people,” Since we are children of God, we are a great people, and we have the power to drive the world out of our space. God has much more to give us, but we must show Him that we are first, thankful with what we have, and second, follow through with what He asks us to do to obtain it. We can do anything that God asks us to do, He never gives us anything that we can not handle, and above our strength comes through Christ. ”Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.” - Psalms 144:1,2.

Jesus Christ Revealed: Today, Jesus is revealed through the springs that Caleb gave his daughter, Jesus us gives us springs of living water when we believe in and receive Him as our Saviour. “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” - John 7:38.

Today's Prayer: God, Our inheritance into Your Kingdom is not dependent upon our earthly parents, but by Your Son Jesus, who's finished work on the cross makes it possible. The second we believe in and receive Jesus as our Saviour, we are more than just saved, we are born again, sons and daughter of Yours, and joint heirs with Your Son. Thank You for the great sacrifice that You made so that I can become one of Your children, and thank You for an amazing inheritance awaiting me as You prepare Your Kingdom for all of Your children. Father, lead me and guide me, give me Your power and strength to complete the tasks that You have for me, let me not be afraid, give me the courage to walk by faith, and remove any disbelief that I have. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
