Details of Today's Chapters: Elihu’ continues his speech, he assumes Job's affliction is shown to be discipline fro God, and Elihu magnifies God’s holiness.

Hello My Friend/Guest,

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true. Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go. Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man. And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.” -John 8:12-16.

A judge is a civil officer who is invested with authority to hear and determine causes, it is a person who has skill to decide on the merits of a question, or on the value of any thing, one who can discern truth and propriety. It is easy to judge by sight, but judging by sight is often misleading, many people have had their lives ruined because of something someone saw that was misleading. Therefore, as Christians, we are to make no judgment without the Father.

Job was tired of all the accusations brought upon him by his friends, he had desired a judge to decide his appeal. Elihu remained silent the entire time Job was defending himself against Eliphaz and Bildad, but now speaks according to Job's wish, as a judge. Elihu charges Job with reflecting upon the justice and goodness of God, that he had spoken wrong, and that he ought to humble himself before God in repentance.

“Surely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying, I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me. Behold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy, He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths. Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man. Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.” - Job 33:8-13.

Job did not say that he was clean without transgression, what he actually said was, “Thou knowest that I am not wicked, my righteousness I hold fast, - Job 10:7.“ God is not accountable to us, He does not owe us anything, but we will be accountable to Him. Why? Think about it, if you are saved and living in sin, do you expect God's blessings? He will cause affliction until you repent, He will not bring you to heaven to enjoy all it's splendor while you are living in sin. If you are not saved, do you expect God's blessings? He will not bless anyone who does not even believe in His Son. We will all give an account to God when we die, only those souls who are saved will escape hell. “He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” - Revelation 21:7,8.

Elihu humbly addresses himself to the others to gain their good will and their favorable attention. He calls for their help to decide with him whether Job was guilty or not.

“Hear my words, O ye wise men; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge. For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat. Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good. For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment. Should I lie against my right? my wound is incurable without transgression. What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water? Which goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men.” - Job 34:2-8.

Elihu misunderstood the comment Job made saying, he was righteous and that God had taken away his judgment. He assumed that Job was referring to judicial judgment, not sound judgment, which is the act or process of the mind in comparing its ideas. Job said, the affliction that was brought upon him clouded his judgment. Affliction does cloud our ability to process all that is going on, the more affliction we face in a matter the more clouded our judgment becomes. However, we are not alone, God can open our eyes and help us see the matter more clearly. “For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.” - II Corinthians 7:11.

In the formation of our judgments, we should be careful to weigh and compare all the facts connected with the subject. The plainest Christian, whose mind is enlightened, whose heart is sanctified by the Spirit of God, and who is knowledgeable in the Scriptures, can say how far a persons words or actions agree with true religion. It is only through knowing God's Word that we can make the right judgment, everything else comes from our own judgment. Every morning when I pray, I recite these verses, “Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” - Proverbs 3:3-6. My own understanding is full of feelings and thoughts of my flesh, I do not want my feelings or thoughts to cloud my ability to make the right judgment, therefore, I plead with God to let me lean on His understanding and not my own.

Now, people who really know God's Word and follow it do not throw out a bunch of Scripture to a person when they see a person who needs to know they are doing something wrong, but they make the right judgment according to the Scripture and speak appropriately. People love to throw Scripture out there that have no idea what it really means. Do you know that the most widely used verse quoted from the Bible is, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.“ - John 3:16, yet, millions of those people die and end up in hell? Why? They do not know Jesus personally. It is not enough to believe in Jesus, Satan believes in Jesus. You must ask Him to come into your life. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” - Romans 10:9,10.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
