Message TitleCome As You Are, Leave Better

Hello My Friend,

At my church there is a sign that says, “Come as you are, leave better.” When we receive the Lord, Jesus Christ as our Saviour, we are just sinners cleansed by the blood of Christ of all our sins. Being saved does not keep us from sinning, but it should make us more like Christ as we learn about Him and walk with Him. Unfortunately, many who get saved never get beyond that point because they never allow the Lord to come in and take residence with them, which is why they face so many trials. “Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?” - 1 Peter 4:16,17.

God does give everyone a chance to
get saved, but there does come a time when Hetires of all the religious people who claim they know Him. The Pharisees and scribes were intent on trying to expose Jesus as a liar and fraud, when in reality they were the ones who were deceiving the people. Jesus calls them out for telling the people that He was a son of David. And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the Son of David? For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool. David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is hethen his son? And the common people heard him gladly. And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces, And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts: Which devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.” - Mark 12:35-40.

The common people, those of no rank or superior excellence or intelligence, understood and believed Jesus, while the so called Bible scholars, wise men, and men of God saw Him as an ordinary son of their ancestors. There are many, many people still today who quote the Bible left and right, but they are too smart to understand the truth of it. God has no tolerance for those who defraud His Word, and deceive others with their lies. “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.” - Romans 1:22,23,28,32.

As Jesus and His disciples went out of the temple, He began to prophecy of the destuction of the temple. His disciples asked Him when all these things will take place. And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you: For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet. And the gospel must first be published among all nations. But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost. Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death.” - Mark 13:5-7,10-12.

Jesus will return, and when He does, all the liars and deceivers will be exposed for who they are, in the mean time, Jesus is trusting us to keep telling the truth and setting ourselves as the examples that we need to be to show all we get near that they need Jesus too. We are going to face some affliction for standing by Jesus, but He will take care of everything. Jesus explains this futher. Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near:So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done. Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.” - Mark 13:28-32,35-36.

As much as God loves every person who comes to Him with a sincere heart in accepting His Son, He much rather see us living in obedience to His Word. Why? The more we live the way He wants has nothing to so with our salvation, it's about letting God know that He means more to us than anything we can possess or satisfy in our own flesh. “Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound. Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” - 2 Timothy 2:7-10,15.

Today's Prayer: God, You have given us the greatest example of how we are to live in obedience to Your commands through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Others in this world may earn titles and win prizes for worthy earthly pursuits, but the greatest prize that I will ever obtain is getting to see Him face to face. And amazingly it is not because I earned it, but because I put my faith and trust in Him. Thank You for all that You do. Lead me and guide me, give me Your power to live in obedience to Your Word, help me to love You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. In Jesus' name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
