Come Out Of The Dark

DateTuesday June 05, 2012
Today's ChaptersJob 17-20Message TitleCome Out Of The Dark

Hello My Friend,

You know, at times, no matter how strong our faith, things can overwhelm us so much that even when we are serving God we cannot feel His presence, our heart and soul becomes weak, weary, and lifeless. We can go years serving God, praying, and reading our Bibles in hopes that we will see some kind of light at the end of the tunnel only to still see constant darkness. We do not have to live in darkness, we are the light through Christ who lives in us, therefore, it's time to come out of the dark. “
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.” - Ephesians 5:8-14.

Job was in a situation he could not control, he was in pain, still mourning the loss of his children, his wife did not recognize him, he lost everything he had of value, and on top of that he had four friends that were persecuting him. He felt all alone and just wanted an end to be of the nightmare he was in. “
My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are ready for me. The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger. But as for you all, do ye return, and come now: for I cannot find one wise man among you. My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart. They change the night into day: the light is short because of darkness. If I wait, the grave is mine house: I have made my bed in the darkness.” - Job 17:1,9-13.

As long as Job remained in bondage to his troubles he would not see the light, I can recall times in my life when it seemed everyone was against me and I couldn't do anything right. I just wanted to get away from everyone and start over somewhere else. I learned the hard way that you cannot leave your problems, they somehow find you wherever you go and darken your path until you face them. Let me tell you, facing your problems brings a lot of persecution, but it will make you stronger and stronger as long as you get your strength from Christ. We cannot handle some of these things on our own, sometimes we need the power of God to get us out of the darkness. “
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.” - 1 Peter 2:9,10.

Bildad speaks a second time, the first time he at least gave him a little good advice and encouragement to seek God, but this time he rebukes him and harshly too. He came to the conclusion that Job shut out the providence of God from the management of human affairs because he would not admit himself to be wicked. “
How long will it be ere ye make an end of words? mark, and afterwards we will speak. He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world. He shall neither have son nor nephew among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings. They that come after him shall be astonied at his day, as they that went before were affrighted. Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place of him that knoweth not God.” - Job 18:2,18-21.

W
e all have some wicked in us, but those who put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ to save them are redeemed, set free from the dwellings of the wicked, which is hell. Every person can be against you in the world, but God knows the truth about you. God sees the blood of Christ that is applied upon your soul and because you are one of His you get much more than salvation. Jesus said, “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” - Matthew 7:11-14.

As Job was hearing more criticism from his friends he began thinking more wisely, although his friends had nothing nice to say, his wife was not there to give him support, and it seemed as though God was no where to be found He knew who his Redeemer was.
Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net. Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment. For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me. But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me? Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.” - Job 19:6,7,25-29.

Even Job knew who his Redeemer was and that through Him he would be saved. We are not redeemed for any righteousness of our own, but through the blood of Christ. Salvation or eternal life is the gift of God through His mercy and grace in our acceptance of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, it cannot be earned, bought, or paid for on our own. We need a Redeemer to be saved from death and hell, that Redeemer is only Jesus Christ. “
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;” - Romans 3:10,11,23-25.
Sometimes, in fact, most often, in order for us to realize that we have been seeking every other means except Jesus to come out of the dark we will face more problems. God doesn't do it to make us suffer more, but to show us that we cannot get out of the dark without Him. The more we try to fix problems on our own the more problems we have. Why? Because we are using our own reasoning, backed up by tons of emotions jumbled into one big mess, to try to fix them. If we want to come out of the dark we need to walk with Jesus, not just read the Bible and pray, we need to include Him in everything. Talk to Him, sing to Him, communicate with Him, people may look at you funny, but you will start seeing the light because you will be laughing at the funny looks they give you. “Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh. Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.” - Luke 6:21-23.
Today's PrayerGod, Thank You for sending Your Son to redeem me, I know I am not saved by any righteousness of my own, but by my faith and trust in what Your Son did for me. Because I am redeemed I know that You are always with me, but sometimes I feel like I am in the dark. I catch myself trying to handle my problems on my own instead of asking You for help and I know that is why I lose all hope that things will change for me. Lord, give me Your power to see past my problems and look to You, as I do my part by faith I know You will do Your part and I will see the light. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Feelings Turned Faith

DateMonday June 04, 2012
Today's ChaptersJob 13-16
Message TitleFeelings Turned Faith

Hello My Friend,

Our faith in God goes up and down like a roller coaster, one minute we truly believe that all things are possible, the next, we think, it's just impossible. It's really not about God or us, it's about our emotions, they are what really goes up and down like a roller coaster and it's those emotions that make or break our faith. Emotions are defined as
the feelings to which the mind is subjected, when an object of importance suddenly demands its attention. We really do know what we need to do, it's the emotions that cause us to make decisions based on feelings and not faith. “Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.” - James 1:3,4,8,12-14.
Job was a righteous and upright man, God Himself confirmed that, however, he was now facing all kinds of persecution, it was as if he were being punished for crimes he did not commit. Job's faith in God was being put to the test and just like the rest of us it went up and down like a roller coaster based on his emotions too. The amazing thing was that the more his friends criticized him the more he felt that God had a reason for what He was doing and knew that He would be justified by Him eventually. Lo, mine eye hath seen all this, mine ear hath heard and understood it. What ye know, the same do I know also: I am not inferior unto you. Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God. But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value. Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him. Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears. Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified.” - Job 13:1-4,15-18.

God will allow the devil to test our faith in Him, remember, Satan can not take away our salvation, but he can do a good job at making us think he can. It is our strength through Jesus Christ that gives us the hope that all this will come to pass as we put our faith in Him, not our tests. “
As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him. For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God? It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.” - Psalm 18:30-32.

Job knew that he did not have to make excuses, He was justified by God and knew that at least He was on his side, regardless of what everyone else thought. This did not stop his friends from continuing to lash out at him,
Eliphaz. He begins by rebuking Job, Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said, Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind? Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good? Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God. For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.” - Job 15:1-5.

Job knew that it would be a waste of time to argue with these men, they were not about to change their opinion of him, in fact, the more he defended himself the worse they got. However, he knew he had a witness and that God would testify on his behalf. “
I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all. Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest? I also could speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul's stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you. Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high. My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God. O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour! When a few years are come, then I shall go the way whence I shall not return.” - Job 16:2-4,19-22.

Don't you hate it when you tell someone your troubles seeking some kind of encouragement only to get a lecture about everything that you are doing wrong or they assume you are doing wrong? There are just some people out there who have a lousy way of comforting people, thank God that we have the Holy Spirit inside of us to give us comfort when no one else will. “
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” - John 14:16-18.

When a person puts their faith and trust in Jesus Christ to save them from death and hell, they are solely believing, by faith, that He alone is the only one who can get them to heaven. When God looks at a saved person he does not see the sins of the past or present, He sees righteousness through Christ. Why? We are not saved by our own righteousness, but by our faith alone in the finished work of Christ, who died on the cross, was buried, and resurrected three days later. “
But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;” - Romans 3:21-25.

Feelings cause us to do some crazy things, pride, anger, and bitterness, are all things that cause us to react on impulse rather than faith. God is a faith in the unseen God not faith by sight God, if we have faith that Jesus saves us even though we do not see Him than we can have faith that we can get through the tests we are facing. “
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” - Hebrews 11:1,3,6.
Today's Prayer: God, As much faith as I have in You taking me to heaven is how much faith I need in You getting me through the tests I am facing. As much as I try not to let my emotions get the best of me I admit that they do at times. Forgive me for the times I let my feelings make my decisions rather than coming to You. Help me to overcome all my tests by keeping my eyes on You, give me faith that not only moves mountains, but crushes them. Give me Your power, strength, and wisdom to get through all these tests, never forgetting that in the end I will be justified because I You truly know my heart. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Making The Unpleasant Pleasant

Date: Sunday June 03, 2012
Today's ChaptersJob 9-12Message TitleMaking The Unpleasant Pleasant

Hello My Friend,
From time to time, even as faithful Christians, we all go through things that have us asking the question, “Why are you doing this?”. It's okay to ask God questions. As we draw closer to Him through our trials we not only get a better insight spiritually, we also find answers or at least comfort. What we should not do is question God, while we may not understand what is going on, God knows exactly what is going on. We all have to face the fact that whether we choose to follow Christ or not we are going to face trials, they do not go away, but they can get easier to handle when we put our faith and trust in God. God can make the unpleasant situations in our lives pleasant as long as we give them over to Him.

For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth whatis the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according tohis purpose.” - Romans 8:24-28.
Job must have had every emotion going on at the same time, he was confused, grieving, and in pain, on top of that the only people that would talk to him were ones that criticized him and kept making accusations at him. This time, he was accused of being a hypocrite, amazingly though, the more these men belittled him the more he was able to see God's hand in all this. I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God? If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand. He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered? Lo, he goeth by me, and I see him not: he passeth on also, but I perceive him not. Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What doest thou? If God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him. How much less shall I answer him, and choose out my words to reason with him...For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment. Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both.” - Job 9:2-4,11-14,32,33.

Job admitted that God's dealings with him were beyond his ability to comprehend them, but he also realized that God was with him, even though he could not see Him. Incidentally, the word daysman means mediator, in other words Job was saying, we do not have a mediator among us to help us reach God, someone who would stand in between the Holy God and sinful man to show us the way. Remember, in Job's days they did not even have a Bible to turn to, everything they did for God was done by their own reasoning. Today, we do have a mediator, that mediator is Jesus Christ, He is the daysman that stands between us and God, without Jesus we cannot reach God. “
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.” - 1 Timothy 2:3-6.

If Christ is in you, God is in you, and His presence never leaves you. However, you can plead with God all you want, if Christ is not in you, God is not, therefore, His presence is not with you. If you want God to hear you, you must have Christ in your life. “
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” - Matthew 7:22,23.
Through Job, we are led to see that religious people who express unkind criticism of others are falling right into the devils hands. Zophar was no different, he literally scolded Job and not only called him a hypocrite, but a liar too. He was literally telling him that God was giving him what he deserved for his sins. Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man full of talk be justified? Should thy lies make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed? For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes. But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee; And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth. Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection? It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?” - Job 11:2-8.

You have to love advice from those who think they know more than you do? We are cautioned not to impose added suffering upon those who need our comfort. Judgmental critics often misunderstand the methods and purposes of God in dealing with His chosen followers, but we can overcome even them by reminding ourselves that God is with us. He knows the truth and one day those critics will have to deal with God, Jesus said, “
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.” - Matthew 6:5-8.

Christians can sense the presence of God, not only in their trials, but also in their day to day activities. Although we cannot see Him, we know, through faith, that He is with us. God may never reveal a reason for our trials, but we should never question His actions. Just trust Him and He will make the unpleasant experience pleasant. “
My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” - Proverbs 3:1-6.
Today's Prayer: God, I know that you have a hand in everything that I go through and I am trusting You to get me through every experience. I admit that instead of handing everything over to You and letting You direct my path that I try to take my own path sometimes and it becomes more unpleasant than it needs to be. Lord, give me Your power to let go of the fight to try to handle it all on my own and just hand it all over to You. Give me Your power to take the path the You laid out for me and not my own. Give me Your power to look to You whenever I am be tempted to turn and walk away, let me face my fears with all the power that Your strength can give me and not run. Let me find pleasantness through the unpleasant experiences I am facing and help me to always look to You. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Vain Words

King James Daily Bible Study Devotional
Message TitleVain Words
Date: Saturday June 02, 2012Today's ChaptersJob 5-8

Hello My Friend,
When you call on the Lord Jesus Christ to save you, all the sins you ever committed have been erased from existence in the eyes of God. Nothing or no one can ever take away your salvation, now, you may face some persecution or chastening from God if you have presently sinned, but you still do not lose your salvation. Why? We are not trusting in our righteousness to save us, we are trusting in the finished work of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. Now, Satan despises the saved that let Christ be Lord of their lives and will do anything to get us to doubt our salvation and stop serving God, he will even use family and friends if he has to. That is why it is important that all Christians be not deceived by vain words.

For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.” - Ephesians 5:5-10.

In God's eyes, Job was a perfect man, that did not mean that he never sinned, it meant that God was Lord of His life and he did everything he could to avoid sin. So, I imagine when his life was turned upside down in a matter of days that created quite a discussion when people found out. Job had a rich, prosperous life, in a matter of minutes he lost everything, I imagine he was feeling quite distraught and longed for some comfort and an encouraging word or two. However, all he got was a wife telling him to curse God and die, so, when four of his friends showed up he thought they would be the ones to help. For a week they just sat there in silence, that was probably the best thing they did for him because once they opened their mouths the persecution began. Eliphaz was the first to respond, telling Job that he was being chastised by God for hidden sin.

Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn? For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one. I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation. Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty: For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole. He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee. In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.” - Job 5:1-3,17-20.

Eliphaz went as far as saying just come clean and God will forgive you for it. He was right in that God redeems all who repent, but he was wrong in assuming that Job was suffering because he had hidden sin in his life. That's why Jesus tells us, “
Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.” - John 7:24. We sometimes find ourselves making rash statements in the midst of unexpected trials, However, we have no right to judge a person that is struggling or else we will be facing judgment ourselves. We must not make the mistake of assuming a person has been living in sin based on what we see on the outside. The only one who truly knows what is going on is God. “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.” - Matthew 7:1,2.

Job did not know what to say, he was spiritually drained and thought God had left him to deal with all this on his own, but he never once cursed God. He was literally ready for God to just take him to heaven. “
For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me. Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for! Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off! Then should I yet have comfort; yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.” - Job 6:4,8-10.

When a saved person understands the reason for suffering, the heaviest load will not crush them, but when tragedy occurs with no sign of God's presence, we are all prone to become discouraged and even want to give up on life. Can I tell you that God never allows Satan to give us more than we can handle? If Job really couldn't have handled all that he was stricken with God would have taken him home to heaven when he asked Him to. Everything happens upon God's timetable, His presence is always with us, He just takes a step back at times. “
And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” - Romans 8:27,28.

Then Job came to his senses, his thoughts were lifted up to God with some faith and hope as he begins to respond reasonably with his friends vain words and the horrible thoughts he was having about ending his life.
Am I a sea, or a whale, that thou settest a watch over me? When I say, My bed shall comfort me, my couch shall ease my complaint; Then thou scarest me with dreams, and terrifiest me through visions: So that my soul chooseth strangling, and death rather than my life. I loathe it; I would not live alway: let me alone; for my days are vanity. I have sinned; what shall I do unto thee, O thou preserver of men? why hast thou set me as a mark against thee, so that I am a burden to myself? And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away mine iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.” - Job 7:12-16,22,21.
Job maintained his innocence to his friends, that he was not a hypocrite, not a wicked man, yet admits that he has sinned in the past, but knows that if his sins were not pardoned he is lost forever, even death would not save him. A person who lives their life for Christ might choose death over sin, but they should be content to live as long as God chooses, because our present life is our opportunity of glorifying Him, while He prepares heaven for us. “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” - 1 John 3:2,3.
There are going to be people in our lives that strive on seeing us suffering, they will criticize us and make us feel as though we are doubting ourselves and that God is not with us. Never let anyone bring you so down on yourself that you feel that ending your life is the best option. Everything will come to past and you will be stronger and wiser as the Lord Jesus Christ lifts you up and shines His light through your darkness. “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” - 2 Corinthians 4:6,16-18.
Today's Prayer: God, It seems like everywhere I go I have people trying to get me to compromise my beliefs or get me to feel bad about myself as I try to live my life for You. I know You have a plan for me, every day I wake up in the world You have a plan for me, let me not waste it listening to vain words told by others or even myself. Let me move forward with hope knowing that You have something much better planned for me than I can ever imagine myself doing. Give me Your power to overcome the constant attacks on my faith, beliefs, and integrity. I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Walking in Integrity

King James Daily Bible Study Devotional
Message TitleWalking in Integrity
Date: Friday June 01, 2012Today's ChaptersJob 1-4

Hello My Friend,

The word integrity means,
the entire, unimpaired state of any thing, particularly of the mind, it's being moral, pure, incorruptible, upright, and honest, integrity comprehends the whole moral character of a person. Even before many of us knew Christ as our Savior we walked in integrity, but once He became part of our lives it became more eminent as we learn His ways. All Christians should be able to say, Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide.Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart. For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes: and I have walked in thy truth. I will wash mine hands in innocency: so will I compass thine altar, O LORD: That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.” - Psalms 26:1-3,6,7.
Sandwiched in the center of the Old Testament Books are known as Books of Poetry. Theses books are of human experiences of the people of God under various circumstances of their earthly lives. They first begin with the Book of Job, the Book of Job is the eighteenth book of the Old Testament/Bible and contains forty-two chapters. It is one of the oldest of the Bible books, the timeline is around the time of the Abrahamic Covenant. The author of the book is unknown, but could have been Moses or Job and it was written approximately around 1520 BC. The book was written to all people who experience suffering for unexplained reasons. The purpose of the book is to explain the question many people have, "Why do those living for God suffer?". What we are to learn from the book is that there is a spiritual reason behind all the unanswered suffering we encounter. “But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” - Job 23:10.

As Christians we expect to face affliction when we sin, however, it is a different story when we face affliction and have not been doing anything wrong. The truth is, we will all face affliction at some point in our lives regardless of how good we try to be. Why? We are in the middle of a spiritual battle between God and Satan, who will win the battle remains up to us in how we choose to handle those afflictions. One day, while God was admitting people into the Kingdom, Satan shows up. Why God allows Satan to stand at the gates of heaven is always a question, but nevertheless he was there and talking with God about Job. The interesting thing was that God was the one who brought up His name.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.” - Job 1:7-11.

That old devil assumed that the only reason Job was faithful to God was because he was successful and rich, he was certain that Job would curse God and walk away from Him if he lost everything he had. God allowed Satan to afflict Job, and he was not subtle about it either, within a matter of minutes he took away Job's kids, servants, and livestock. “
Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.” - Job 1:20-22.

Stunned by this, Satan showed up before God again, this time questioning Job's integrity. “
And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause. And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face. And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.” - Job 2:3-6.
God told Satan, you can make him sick, but don't kill him, and that is exactly what Satan did. It was so bad that even Job's wife told him to just curse God and die, but Job never lost his integrity. “So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown. And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes. Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.” -Job 2:7-10.

Job wasn't always optimistic, he had questions as to why he was even born, but he knew that everything from God is a blessing.
You know, when we are facing affliction, whether we are sick or losing things we are often prone to retrace our steps to see what we have done wrong thinking that God is punishing us. The truth is, God is not punishing us, He is merely looking for us to trust Him. God knows what is best for us and when we trust His decision He blesses us, it may not be the blessings that we expect, but everything is a blessing from God. Even when a person passes away, it is all in God's hands, God takes away our pain according to His will and how much He knows we can handle. “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” - 1 Peter 5:6-9.
Today's Prayer: God, I admit that the first thing I think of when I am being afflicted is, “What have I done and how can I fix it?” It is those thoughts that hinder me from seeing the blessings in my life through my affliction. You already know what I am going through, I just need to trust You and let You take care of it as I do what I can in my ability. Lord, help me to walk in integrity and keep looking to You for help through my affliction instead of trying to fix the problem myself without Your guidance. I love You and pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
