2 Chronicles: A Perfect House For
God
Hello My Friend,
Foundation, That
on which any thing stands, and by which it is supported. A house can
be made of some of the most valuable materials, but without a good
foundation, it is worthless. It can appear beautiful on the outside,
and contain the most valuable possessions on the inside, but it is
only a matter of time when it will fall without the proper
foundation. A saved, born again person, one who has received Christ
as their Saviour, has the most valuable possession they hold living
inside them, Him. We can build a perfect house for God, but if we are
not supported by Christ, it is worthless. “Nevertheless
the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord
knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of
Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only
vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and
some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge
himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and
meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.”
- 2 timothy 2:19-21.
Solomon was given the task to
not only reign over the kingdom after his godly father David, but
also to build the first temple for people to worship God. I imagine
Solomon was a bit uneasy about such a huge task, but God was with him
and in the fourth year of his reign construction began. “Then
Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount
Moriah, where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place
that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
And he began to build in the second day of the second month, in the
fourth year of his reign. Now these are the things wherein Solomon
was instructed for the building of the house of God. The length by
cubits after the first measure was threescore cubits, and the breadth
twenty cubits. And the porch that was in the front of the house, the
length of it was according to the breadth of the house, twenty
cubits, and the height was an hundred and twenty: and he overlaid it
within with pure gold. And he reared up the pillars before the
temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left; and called
the name of that on the right hand Jachin, and the name of that on
the left Boaz.” - 2 Chronicles 3:1-4,17.
“and
called the name of that on the right hand Jachin, and the name of
that on the left Boaz.” Pillar, A supporter; that which
sustains or upholds. Names were given to the pillars, Jachin, he will
establish, Boaz, quickness. Jesus, the supporter of every born again
soul, sustains us and keeps us upright. Fitting that the temple was
built on the very spot David met Jesus (the angel of the LORD) when
he built the altar that held the sacrifice that stopped anymore
people from losing their lives to the plague. Jesus will return and
when He does it will be quick, and He will establish His kingdom in
the earth. “Behold, I come as a thief.
Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk
naked, and they see his shame.” - Revelation 16:15.
It
took about seven and a half years for the temple to be completed, but
every detail was precise, everything that went into the temple was
pure and only of the best quality. The furniture and amount of items
in the temple, compared with that of the Tabernacle, showed that
God's church would be enlarged and multiplied greatly.
“And
Solomon made all the vessels that were for the house of God, the
golden altar also, and the tables whereon the shewbread was set;
Moreover the candlesticks with their lamps, that they should burn
after the manner before the oracle, of pure gold; And the flowers,
and the lamps, and the tongs, made he of gold, and that perfect gold;
And the snuffers, and the basons, and the spoons, and the censers, of
pure gold: and the entry of the house, the inner doors thereof for
the most holy place, and the doors of the house of the temple, were
of gold.” - 2 Chronicles 4:19-22.
“of
pure gold;” Gold, the most precious metal in the world. In
ancient times, purifying gold involved it being melted down with
flames reaching temperatures in excess of 1000°C/1832°F. A
craftsman sitting next to the molten gold, stirred and skimmed it to
remove the impurities that arose to the top of the molten metal.
Today, chemicals are used to purify gold, it may get shiny, but will
never get as pure as it would by fire. Believe it or not, we are gold
to God. Before we receive Christ as our Saviour, we are like the
rough gold that comes out of the mine, there are a lot of impurities
in us. The second we receive Him, He removes our iniquities and makes
our soul as pure gold, but our flesh needs work. And God does it the
only fashioned way, with fire, things such as trials, affliction, and
chastening. We will never be perfect until we get to heaven, but
until then we can expect the fire. “Beloved,
think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you,
as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch
as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory
shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.”
- 1 Peter 4:12,13.
Now after the temple was complete it
was time to bring the Ark of God to it's final resting place. Solomon
gathered the priests and Levites together and put the Ark and all the
holy vessels in their place. The Ark was a token of the presence of
God, when the people saw the Ark they knew that God was with them.
There was nothing in the Ark except for the two tablets of stone with
the first Ten Commandments that God wrote Himself. These were to be a
constant reminder of God's Covenant with Israel and to make them a
holy nation. With praise, thanksgiving, music, and singing all the
people were gathered together as one to see this wonderful event take
place. As soon as the Ark was in it's place God took possession of
the temple.
“Then Solomon
assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the
chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto Jerusalem, to
bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of
David, which is Zion. And it came to pass, when the priests were come
out of the holy place: (for all the priests that were present were
sanctified, and did not then wait by course: Also the Levites which
were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with
their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having
cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar,
and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:)
It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to
make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and
when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and
instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good;
for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with
a cloud, even the house of the LORD; So that the priests could not
stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD
had filled the house of God.” - 2 Chronicles
5:2,11-14.
“for
the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.” God
shines through those who are living with Christ in their lives daily,
He should be seen in every saved, born again soul, but He is not. If
you looked directly into the sun, it blinds you, especially when you
do not have any sun glasses on. Jesus does the same thing, look
directly at Him with sin and He blinds us, but put on His glasses as
we are able to look at Him. God blesses us when we keep His temple
clean, and if we do get it dirty, wee need to confess it, and He will
clean it up. Salvation is not about having a free ride to heaven,
nothing is free, there is always a price to pay for sin. “Know
ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be
not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor
effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor
covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall
inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are
washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of
the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. What? know ye not that
your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye
have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price:
therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are
God's.” - 1 Corinthians 6:9-11,19,20.
Jesus
Christ Revealed: Today, Jesus is revealed through the
temple. The perfect temple built was a foreshadow of Christ, who
raised up the temple of His body three days after His death. “Jesus
answered and said unto them, Destroy
this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” -
John 2:19.
Today's Prayer:
God, I understand that the second I called on Your Son, Jesus Christ
to save me Your Spirit entered my body and now You indwell in me just
like You came into the temple in Jerusalem so many years ago. God, I
want to feel Your presence upon my live, help me to remove the
impurities that keep me from seeing You bless me, not with riches
beyond my need, but wisdom and a wiling heart to be a faithful
servant and a holy temple for You. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Message: 1 Chronicles: Release The Power Of God
Hello My Friend,
The Book of 2 Chronicles is the fourteenth book of the Old Testament/Bible and contains thirty-six chapters. The timeline for these events took place approximately 1015 BC – 610 BC. The author of the book is Ezra, and the book was written to the Jews who were in captivity in Babylon for seventy years. The purpose of the book was to record the events that took place in Judah that brought them into captivity. What we are to learn from the book is that the blessings God gives to us comes through humbling ourselves and seeking Him in all that we do. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” - 2 Chronicles 7:14.
As I was reading today’s chapters something grabbed my attention, while God chose Israel to be His people, He welcomed anyone to come to Him, no matter what generation it was. God did not limit His power, mercy, or grace to just Israel, it was for all who believed in Him. We may not realize it, but we, even believers, ignorantly limit God’s potential. How much more would He give us if we just trust Him and let Him use all His power on us. As David continued to prepare for his departure and hand the reins over to Solomon, he gathered everyone together for one last speech, where he gave great praise to God for all He had done for Israel.
“Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all. Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all. Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name. But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee. For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding. O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own. I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee.” - 1 Chronicles 29:11-17.
“and in thine hand it is to make great,” God has never limited His power to just the Jews, He has always given His strength, power, and might to anyone who willingly offers themselves to Him, and has an upright heart. Upright, meaning honest and just. The upright heart is not perfect, but it follows a perfect God, and even when it gets defective, God always has a way to fix it because they willingly want Him in their lives. Today, God is still looking for the willing heart, one that comes to Jesus to give His power, mercy, grace, might, and everything else that is good to. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” - Romans 1:16,17.
Shortly after David’s speech, Solomon was anointed king for a second time, this time, all of Israel was present, after David died Solomon got right to work as David instructed. This is perhaps the only time we learn that the kingdom was set in order before a king died and the son followed the plan. Because Solomon feared God and followed his father’s instructions he prospered greatly. One night, Solomon got a visit from God Himself.
“And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly. Then Solomon spake unto all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every governor in all Israel, the chief of the fathers. So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness. But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjathjearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem. Moreover the brasen altar, that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the LORD: and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it. And Solomon went up thither to the brasen altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it. In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.” - 2 Chronicles 1:1-7.
“Ask what I shall give thee.” You know, the amazing thing about God is that when you follow Him with an upright heart, He blesses you, and even asks you what He can give you. God knows everything we need and desire, and strangely enough He gives them to us (although not always how we imagine) willingly as we trust Him and give our lives to Him. Following God is not following a bunch of rules, God instilled the law of Moses to prove to us that our human abilities are incapable of doing that. He made it simple, “Love Me”, “Trust Me”, “Follow Only Me”. God knows we are going to mess up, that is what His grace is for, and why He sent His Son to die for us. Does that mean we are to live as we please and not suffer the consequences of our actions? From the mouth of Paul, God forbid. It does mean that God forgives our transgressions when we love Him. “What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.” - Romans 6:15-17.
Now with a new outlook, Solomon was determined to build the house of God as his father David instructed, he began to gather the best people along with those David appointed. Solomon sent a message to Huram, one of David's trusted friends, that he needed some of his people, and he gladly accepted the offer.
“And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the LORD, and an house for his kingdom. And Solomon told out threescore and ten thousand men to bear burdens, and fourscore thousand to hew in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them. And Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As thou didst deal with David my father, and didst send him cedars to build him an house to dwell therein, even so deal with me. Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because the LORD hath loved his people, he hath made thee king over them. Huram said moreover, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the LORD, and an house for his kingdom. And Solomon numbered all the strangers that were in the land of Israel, after the numbering wherewith David his father had numbered them; and they were found an hundred and fifty thousand and three thousand and six hundred. And he set threescore and ten thousand of them to be bearers of burdens, and fourscore thousand to be hewers in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to set the people a work.” - 2 Chronicles 2:1-3,11,12,17,18.
“And Solomon numbered all the strangers that were in the land of Israel,” There were not just Jews that played a part in the temple being built, willing hearts who followed God all over the world did. When you stop to think about all of mankind, how from the very beginning God was rejected by the very people who knew He was their Creator, you can see how God decided to put His name on one nation. As you can see, Israel is no different than any other nation of people, some believe, some do not, some reject Him completely. There has always been just one door to God, simply put, you believe in Him, worship only Him, and you are His. You sin, confess your sins, move on, and God will keep releasing His power, if not, He will let us figure it out for ourselves. Today, Jesus is standing at that door, and if you have not received Him as your Saviour before you see Him face to face, He will close that door and no one can save you from the torture you are about to receive. “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” - John 10:1,9,10.
Jesus Christ Revealed: Today, Jesus us revealed through the willing offerings that the people brought for the temple. Jesus willingly offered Himself on the cross to be a permanent redemption for all who believe in Him. “For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.” - Hebrews 10:14.
Today's Prayer: God, I understand that the second I called on Your Son Jesus Christ to save me Your Spirit entered my body and now You dwell in me, just like You dwelt in the temple in Jerusalem so many years ago. God, I want to feel Your presence upon my life, I want to release Your power and give You my life to do Your will. Lord, I come to You with a wiling heart to be a faithful servant and a holy temple for You to dwell in. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Jesus Christ Revealed: Today, Jesus us revealed through the willing offerings that the people brought for the temple. Jesus willingly offered Himself on the cross to be a permanent redemption for all who believe in Him. “For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.” - Hebrews 10:14.
Today's Prayer: God, I understand that the second I called on Your Son Jesus Christ to save me Your Spirit entered my body and now You dwell in me, just like You dwelt in the temple in Jerusalem so many years ago. God, I want to feel Your presence upon my life, I want to release Your power and give You my life to do Your will. Lord, I come to You with a wiling heart to be a faithful servant and a holy temple for You to dwell in. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Message: 1 Chronicles: A Perfect Heart And Willing Mind
Hello My Friend,
Perfect, Complete; not defective. Willing, Determined; desiring. Our heart is more than that organ that keeps our body pumping blood through our body, it is the center of our soul. Have you ever had a defective heart? We have all had heart troubles of some kind. Ever experienced an anxiety attack? Ever see someone die of a broken heart? My brother passed away five years ago, he was thirty-nine, I believe part of the reason was because he gave up his will to live when he woke up in the hospital and was tied down trying to get up. The heart of our soul is amazing, it loves, gets excited, and brings so much joy and happiness to us, but it is also full of things that can take the life out of us. If we do not have a perfect heart, it will be the death of us. Only we have the power to be determined to get our heart right. Jesus will do everything He can to heal us, but we must be willing to address the issues that are giving us a defective heart. “My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.” - Psalms 73:26.
The key to having a perfect heart is Jesus. After all, He is the one who cleanses us and makes our soul perfect the second we believe on Him as our Saviour. We all have bad days, and bad attitudes sometimes, Jesus is the only one who has the power to give us a perfect heart. Part of that perfection comes by dedicating our lives to Him, everything we have ought to be dedicated to Him. So, as David continues to get the house of God and his kingdom in order before he died, he focuses his attention on those who would be in charge of the treasures, the things dedicated to God, which were going into the house of God.
“And of the Levites, Ahijah was over the treasures of the house of God, and over the treasures of the dedicated things. As concerning the sons of Laadan; the sons of the Gershonite Laadan, chief fathers, even of Laadan the Gershonite, were Jehieli. The sons of Jehieli; Zetham, and Joel his brother, which were over the treasures of the house of the LORD. Out of the spoils won in battles did they dedicate to maintain the house of the LORD. And all that Samuel the seer, and Saul the son of Kish, and Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah, had dedicated; and whosoever had dedicated any thing, it was under the hand of Shelomith, and of his brethren. Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were for the outward business over Israel, for officers and judges. And of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brethren, men of valour, a thousand and seven hundred, were officers among them of Israel on this side Jordan westward in all the business of the LORD, and in the service of the king.” - 1 Chronicles 26:20-22,27-30.
“and whosoever had dedicated any thing,” Dedicate, To set apart and consecrate to God. The second we get saved, we are set apart and consecrated to God, meaning we have been cleansed of our sins and now able to stand before Him. Many times a heart may not be perfect because it is not willing to give it all to God, there is something in their lives they do not want God to be a part of. Our heart will never be prefect until we give it al to God. “The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.” - Psalms 34:17-19.
Take charge, To lead, in some cases to attack. The most important thing we can do to get a perfect heart is to take charge and attack the issue. We must understand that we cannot get through our issues on our own, we need some help. We must also understand that everything is not always about us, if we start helping others our issues will seem easier to overcome. Now, David sets in order the storehouses and cities, he makes sure that there was a different person in charge each month so they don’t get overburdened.
“Now the children of Israel after their number, to wit, the chief fathers and captains of thousands and hundreds, and their officers that served the king in any matter of the courses, which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year, of every course were twenty and four thousand. Over the first course for the first month was Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. And over the king's treasures was Azmaveth the son of Adiel: and over the storehouses in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the castles, was Jehonathan the son of Uzziah: And over them that did the work of the field for tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub: And over the vineyards was Shimei the Ramathite: over the increase of the vineyards for the wine cellars was Zabdi the Shiphmite: And over the olive trees and the sycomore trees that were in the low plains was Baalhanan the Gederite: and over the cellars of oil was Joash:” - 1 Chronicles 27:1,2,25-28.
“which came in and went out month by month” God does not expect us to carry our burdens all by ourselves, yeah, sometimes we are the cause of our issues, but it’s time to take charge, attack the issue, and get help. Do not try to do everything yourself, and all at once. The first step to overcoming any issue is to admit that you have a problem. A church or anything else cannot be run by one person, it needs a willing crew. The same rings true if we are going to get perfect heart, which is why Jesus wants us to take our burdens to Him. “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” - Matthew 11:28-30.
Now, David gathers everyone together to explain all their duties, what was expected of all of them, and what Solomon was about to do. “Now therefore in the sight of all Israel the congregation of the LORD, and in the audience of our God, keep and seek for all the commandments of the LORD your God: that ye may possess this good land, and leave it for an inheritance for your children after you for ever. And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever. Take heed now; for the LORD hath chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it. Then David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the porch, and of the houses thereof, and of the treasuries thereof, and of the upper chambers thereof, and of the inner parlours thereof, and of the place of the mercy seat, And the pattern of all that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the house of the LORD, and of all the chambers round about, of the treasuries of the house of God, and of the treasuries of the dedicated things: Also for the courses of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and for all the vessels of service in the house of the LORD.” - 1 Chronicles 28:8-13.
“and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind:” I read this quote yesterday and it struck me, “Whatever is said to you came from the heart of the one who said it.” I got to thinking how many times I have said something to someone because my heart was not right. Then I realized, my words were not really toward that person, but something from my past. You know, quite often, we do experience things in our lives and kind of push them to the side, but never really address the issue. This can cause a lot of bitterness and even self hatred in our heart, and let me tell you it will eat you up until you address it. I have a burden on my heart that I have pushed aside, only to have it resurface to remind me that it still has an impact on my life. I know the only way I am going to remove that bitterness in my heart is to hand it all over to God and let Him take the reins. “Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” -Psalm 55:22.
Jesus Christ Revealed: Today Jesus is revealed through the temple treasures and things dedicated to the LORD. Jesus Christ holds all the treasures we need. “That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” - Colossians 2:2,3.
Today's Prayer: (Excerpts from Psalms 25) God, Thank You for Your goodness, and Your perfect heart. Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net. Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted. The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses. Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins. Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred. O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee. Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Message: 1 Chronicles: Serving God
Hello My Friend,
Serving God. There is perhaps no better position than serving God. You do not have to work in a church to serve God, anywhere, any activity, any job, every born again Christian represents God wherever they go. Which is why it is important that we present ourselves as such when we are out in the world. And believe me, people will notice Christ in you. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” - Romans 12:1,2.
Any godly leader will make sure that before they leave the earth they have everything set up and prepared for the next leader. Again, you do not have to work in a church to serve God. David, knew his life was coming to an end, he wanted to make sure that when he left the kingdom would still be in good hands. He was the only reigning king to see his son take over in his steed, he gathers Solomon, the princes, priests, and Levites to explain what their duties would be once he left. “So when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel. And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites. Now the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand. Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the LORD; and six thousand were officers and judges: Moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith. And David divided them into courses among the sons of Levi, namely, Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.” - 1 Chronicles 23:1-6.
“And David divided them into courses among the sons of Levi,” We have something amazing when we receive Christ as our Saviour, we become one of His. As the body of Christ, it is Jesus who divides us to up to serve Him where we will be needed most. Did you think that the skills you possess are just a coincidence? Nope, every skill we have is given personally by God to be used for His purpose. And if we do it right, we will reap the benefits of our gifts. “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:” - Ephesians 4:11-13.
Now, there are some people that God chooses specifically for serving Him in His church, before Jesus those duties were carried out by the Levites, namely sons of Aaron. They were the priests and high priests, part of their duties was to keep the tabernacle and eventual temple light throughout the day. David divided their duties by casting lots, a stone to see who would get what. “Now these are the divisions of the sons of Aaron. The sons of Aaron; Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. But Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and had no children: therefore Eleazar and Ithamar executed the priest's office. And David distributed them, both Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, according to their offices in their service. And there were more chief men found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar; and thus were they divided. Among the sons of Eleazar there were sixteen chief men of the house of their fathers, and eight among the sons of Ithamar according to the house of their fathers. Thus were they divided by lot, one sort with another; for the governors of the sanctuary, and governors of the house of God, were of the sons of Eleazar, and of the sons of Ithamar.” - 1 Chronicles 24:1-5.
“according to their offices in their service.” When we serve Jesus, no job is too small, He uses us where we will be the most useful in the skills that we posses. Not only were the scholars and governors honored, so were the gatekeepers. It is not the job that Jesus gives us that is important, it is our attitude and demeanor in how we do it that is. It does not matter how smart we are or how many skills we have, if we have the wrong attitude we are not going to go very far. “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:” - 2 Corinthians 9:6-8.
“He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly;” While this is mainly talking about giving offerings it has a lot to do with anything we do. David even made sure that the choir and band leaders knew their jobs. “Moreover David and the captains of the host separated to the service of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals: and the number of the workmen according to their service was: Of the sons of Asaph; Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asarelah, the sons of Asaph under the hands of Asaph, which prophesied according to the order of the king. Of Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun; Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise the LORD. Of Heman: the sons of Heman; Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamtiezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth: All these were the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.” - 1 Chronicles 25:1-5.
“to give thanks and to praise the LORD.” Their job was specifically for the service of giving praise and thanks to God. Oh, what a job, and one that we all should jumping to take. Just this morning, I said it to God, it was time to just have a morning of giving thanks for all that He has done in my life. One thing in particular that gets me going is how He changed my life. I swear I go through more struggles as a Christian than I ever did when I lived in the world, yet I am more blessed and have more to be thankful for than ever before. When we learn to praise God in spite of our circumstances we will be blessed, if not in this life, the life to come with Jesus. “Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.” - 1 Peter 5:2-4.
Jesus Christ Revealed: Today, Jesus is revealed through David, who set the God’s ministry in order. Jesus had chosen each and every one of His own to serve Him in His ministry. “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” - John 15:16.
Today's Prayer: God, Thank You for the gifts you have given me, and for using me to serve You, even when I think I am doing nothing. You do not ask for lot, just my faithfulness and willingness to serve You where You need me. I do not understand Your purpose for everything You have me to do, but I do understand that there is a reason for it, and You will never tell me to do something that goes against Your commands. Message: 1 Chronicles: Serving God
Hello My Friend,
Serving God. There is perhaps no better position than serving God. You do not have to work in a church to serve God, anywhere, any activity, any job, every born again Christian represents God wherever they go. Which is why it is important that we present ourselves as such when we are out in the world. And believe me, people will notice Christ in you. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” - Romans 12:1,2.
Any godly leader will make sure that before they leave the earth they have everything set up and prepared for the next leader. Again, you do not have to work in a church to serve God. David, knew his life was coming to an end, he wanted to make sure that when he left the kingdom would still be in good hands. He was the only reigning king to see his son take over in his steed, he gathers Solomon, the princes, priests, and Levites to explain what their duties would be once he left. “So when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel. And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites. Now the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand. Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the LORD; and six thousand were officers and judges: Moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith. And David divided them into courses among the sons of Levi, namely, Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.” - 1 Chronicles 23:1-6.
“And David divided them into courses among the sons of Levi,” We have something amazing when we receive Christ as our Saviour, we become one of His. As the body of Christ, it is Jesus who divides us to up to serve Him where we will be needed most. Did you think that the skills you possess are just a coincidence? Nope, every skill we have is given personally by God to be used for His purpose. And if we do it right, we will reap the benefits of our gifts. “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:” - Ephesians 4:11-13.
Now, there are some people that God chooses specifically for serving Him in His church, before Jesus those duties were carried out by the Levites, namely sons of Aaron. They were the priests and high priests, part of their duties was to keep the tabernacle and eventual temple light throughout the day. David divided their duties by casting lots, a stone to see who would get what. “Now these are the divisions of the sons of Aaron. The sons of Aaron; Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. But Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and had no children: therefore Eleazar and Ithamar executed the priest's office. And David distributed them, both Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, according to their offices in their service. And there were more chief men found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar; and thus were they divided. Among the sons of Eleazar there were sixteen chief men of the house of their fathers, and eight among the sons of Ithamar according to the house of their fathers. Thus were they divided by lot, one sort with another; for the governors of the sanctuary, and governors of the house of God, were of the sons of Eleazar, and of the sons of Ithamar.” - 1 Chronicles 24:1-5.
“according to their offices in their service.” When we serve Jesus, no job is too small, He uses us where we will be the most useful in the skills that we posses. Not only were the scholars and governors honored, so were the gatekeepers. It is not the job that Jesus gives us that is important, it is our attitude and demeanor in how we do it that is. It does not matter how smart we are or how many skills we have, if we have the wrong attitude we are not going to go very far. “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:” - 2 Corinthians 9:6-8.
“He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly;” While this is mainly talking about giving offerings it has a lot to do with anything we do. David even made sure that the choir and band leaders knew their jobs. “Moreover David and the captains of the host separated to the service of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals: and the number of the workmen according to their service was: Of the sons of Asaph; Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asarelah, the sons of Asaph under the hands of Asaph, which prophesied according to the order of the king. Of Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun; Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise the LORD. Of Heman: the sons of Heman; Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamtiezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth: All these were the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.” - 1 Chronicles 25:1-5.
“to give thanks and to praise the LORD.” Their job was specifically for the service of giving praise and thanks to God. Oh, what a job, and one that we all should jumping to take. Just this morning, I said it to God, it was time to just have a morning of giving thanks for all that He has done in my life. One thing in particular that gets me going is how He changed my life. I swear I go through more struggles as a Christian than I ever did when I lived in the world, yet I am more blessed and have more to be thankful for than ever before. When we learn to praise God in spite of our circumstances we will be blessed, if not in this life, the life to come with Jesus. “Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.” - 1 Peter 5:2-4.
Jesus Christ Revealed: Today, Jesus is revealed through David, who set the God’s ministry in order. Jesus had chosen each and every one of His own to serve Him in His ministry. “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” - John 15:16.
Today's Prayer: God, Thank You for the gifts you have given me, and for using me to serve You, even when I think I am doing nothing. You do not ask for lot, just my faithfulness and willingness to serve You where You need me. I do not understand Your purpose for everything You have me to do, but I do understand that there is a reason for it, and You will never tell me to do something that goes against Your commands. Lord, lead me and guide me, give me the strength, wisdom, and patience to do what You call me to do. Let me be, faithful, ready and prepared for the day You come and get me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

1 Chronicles: Soar As An Eagle

Message: 1 Chronicles: Soar As An Eagle
Hello My Friend,
“Just when I think that I am strong, my own weakness proves me wrong, and then I find I fail my LORD again. But I will just keep pressing on, even when all hope seems gone, for He has promised that one day I’ll will win. And I will soar as the eagle, I will rise above it all, I will soar as the eagle. For He will give me strength, to mount up with wings before I fall.” These are some verses to a song called, “I Will Soar”, it reminds me that I belong to Jesus and no matter how many times I fail Him, He will never let me fall. “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one.” - John 10:27-30.
We must admit it, we all get a little slothful sometimes, and since we carry around this flesh that always wants to keep busy, it is the slothful times that we find we can get into the most trouble. Now, we are not given the details about David getting himself into trouble when he committed adultery with Bathsheba because he stayed behind when they were at battle with the Ammonites, but we are given details about the battle. The Ammonites thought they got off easy after they humiliated David’s servants when he sent them to comfort the son after their father died. A year later, David sent his army into Ammon and it was destroyed. Joab contacts David and tells him to get down there and finish the job before he took the city and claimed it for himself.
“And it came to pass, that after the year was expired, at the time that kings go out to battle, Joab led forth the power of the army, and wasted the country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried at Jerusalem. And Joab smote Rabbah, and destroyed it. And David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it was set upon David's head: and he brought also exceeding much spoil out of the city. And he brought out the people that were in it, and cut them with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes. Even so dealt David with all the cities of the children of Ammon. And David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.” - 1 Chronicles 20:1-3.
“And David took the crown of their king from off his head,” Even though God chastens His people when they sin, He will not allow anyone to mistreat them. We are His people, and just like any father would discipline his child, and be the first to defend them if someone comes at them, God does the same with us. We need to never retaliate on those who wrong us because God will get the vengeance, sometimes it does not happen right away, but no one messes with His people. “Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.” - Isaiah 35:4.
David was probably one of the most godliest leaders of all nations, even today, but as strong as his faith in God, he was human too, he failed God just as much as the rest of us do. Quite often, the culprit behind our failed missions is the devil, he uses all sorts of things to get us to disobey God, even if it is something that seems like it is not disobedience. Since we are all born with a sin nature, sooner or later the devil can get the best of us, and once again, he got to David. The devil provoked him to number the people, and as a result God sent a pestilence upon Israel for three days. Seventy thousand people lost their lives and more would have if David did not go to God and plea with Him not to take anymore lives for his bad decision. He was instructed to build an altar.
“Then the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and set up an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite. And David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spake in the name of the LORD. Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of this threshingfloor, that I may build an altar therein unto the LORD: thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people. And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all. And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost. So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight. And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.” - 1 Chronicles 21:18-26.
“but I will verily buy it for the full price:” You know, as much as we fail God, we will soar because we were bought with a price, and we belong to Jesus. Jesus bought our souls with His life, He she His blood and became the sacrifice needed for God to pull back His wrath on those who believe in Him. Now, we may get knocked down a few times, but His blood is upon us forever, and we need to never fear losing our salvation because Jesus bought it for the full price. “For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant. Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men. Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.” - 1 Corinthians 7:22-24.
Now, after that terrible judgment inflicted on Israel and God accepting David's confession and sacrifice, God pointed out the place where he would have the temple built. David was excited to make all the preparations, he gathered people and supplies that would be needed, which Solomon would be well known for having built. After he gathers everything, including the instructions on who was going to do what, he calls for Solomon.
“And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God: But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight. Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days. He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever. Now, my son, the LORD be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the house of the LORD thy God, as he hath said of thee. Only the LORD give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel, that thou mayest keep the law of the LORD thy God. Then shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the LORD charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed.” - 1 Chronicles 22:7-13.
“if thou takest heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the LORD charged Moses with concerning Israel:” You see, we prosper when we obey God. Solomon would later find out that God means business, no matter who He makes a promise to as he got so wrapped up in women that he turned to their gods also. Being saved does not mean we will not suffer for sin, suffering always comes with sin, and we will be chastened. However, since we are saved that means God never turns back on His promise to never leave nor forsake us. He will give us the strength to soar as eagles, the wings to keep from falling too far. “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” - Isaiah 40:31.
Jesus Christ Revealed: Today, Jesus is revealed as the Angel of the Lord, who will place judgment on all who do not come to Him. And also, through the altar that David bought. “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” - 1 Corinthians 6:20.
Today's Prayer: God, Thank You for Your mercy, no matter what I do, You will never leave nor forsake me. Lord, I do want everything I do to be build upon Jesus, I do not want my heart to become slothful, help me to keep my heart, soul, and eyes upon You so that everything I do is for Your glory. I know I will fail You sometimes, but You will give me the strength to get back up and soar. In Jesus' name. Amen.
