Message Title: Vain Words
Date: Saturday June 02, 2012Today's Chapters: Job 5-8
Hello My Friend,
When you call on the Lord Jesus Christ to save you, all the sins you ever committed have been erased from existence in the eyes of God. Nothing or no one can ever take away your salvation, now, you may face some persecution or chastening from God if you have presently sinned, but you still do not lose your salvation. Why? We are not trusting in our righteousness to save us, we are trusting in the finished work of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. Now, Satan despises the saved that let Christ be Lord of their lives and will do anything to get us to doubt our salvation and stop serving God, he will even use family and friends if he has to. That is why it is important that all Christians be not deceived by vain words.
“For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.” - Ephesians 5:5-10.
In God's eyes, Job was a perfect man, that did not mean that he never sinned, it meant that God was Lord of His life and he did everything he could to avoid sin. So, I imagine when his life was turned upside down in a matter of days that created quite a discussion when people found out. Job had a rich, prosperous life, in a matter of minutes he lost everything, I imagine he was feeling quite distraught and longed for some comfort and an encouraging word or two. However, all he got was a wife telling him to curse God and die, so, when four of his friends showed up he thought they would be the ones to help. For a week they just sat there in silence, that was probably the best thing they did for him because once they opened their mouths the persecution began. Eliphaz was the first to respond, telling Job that he was being chastised by God for hidden sin.
“Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn? For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one. I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation. Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty: For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole. He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee. In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.” - Job 5:1-3,17-20.
Eliphaz went as far as saying just come clean and God will forgive you for it. He was right in that God redeems all who repent, but he was wrong in assuming that Job was suffering because he had hidden sin in his life. That's why Jesus tells us, “Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.” - John 7:24. We sometimes find ourselves making rash statements in the midst of unexpected trials, However, we have no right to judge a person that is struggling or else we will be facing judgment ourselves. We must not make the mistake of assuming a person has been living in sin based on what we see on the outside. The only one who truly knows what is going on is God. “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.” - Matthew 7:1,2.
Job did not know what to say, he was spiritually drained and thought God had left him to deal with all this on his own, but he never once cursed God. He was literally ready for God to just take him to heaven. “For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me. Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for! Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off! Then should I yet have comfort; yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.” - Job 6:4,8-10.
When a saved person understands the reason for suffering, the heaviest load will not crush them, but when tragedy occurs with no sign of God's presence, we are all prone to become discouraged and even want to give up on life. Can I tell you that God never allows Satan to give us more than we can handle? If Job really couldn't have handled all that he was stricken with God would have taken him home to heaven when he asked Him to. Everything happens upon God's timetable, His presence is always with us, He just takes a step back at times. “And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” - Romans 8:27,28.
Then Job came to his senses, his thoughts were lifted up to God with some faith and hope as he begins to respond reasonably with his friends vain words and the horrible thoughts he was having about ending his life.
“Am I a sea, or a whale, that thou settest a watch over me? When I say, My bed shall comfort me, my couch shall ease my complaint; Then thou scarest me with dreams, and terrifiest me through visions: So that my soul chooseth strangling, and death rather than my life. I loathe it; I would not live alway: let me alone; for my days are vanity. I have sinned; what shall I do unto thee, O thou preserver of men? why hast thou set me as a mark against thee, so that I am a burden to myself? And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away mine iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.” - Job 7:12-16,22,21.
Job maintained his innocence to his friends, that he was not a hypocrite, not a wicked man, yet admits that he has sinned in the past, but knows that if his sins were not pardoned he is lost forever, even death would not save him. A person who lives their life for Christ might choose death over sin, but they should be content to live as long as God chooses, because our present life is our opportunity of glorifying Him, while He prepares heaven for us. “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” - 1 John 3:2,3.
There are going to be people in our lives that strive on seeing us suffering, they will criticize us and make us feel as though we are doubting ourselves and that God is not with us. Never let anyone bring you so down on yourself that you feel that ending your life is the best option. Everything will come to past and you will be stronger and wiser as the Lord Jesus Christ lifts you up and shines His light through your darkness. “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” - 2 Corinthians 4:6,16-18.
Today's Prayer: God, It seems like everywhere I go I have people trying to get me to compromise my beliefs or get me to feel bad about myself as I try to live my life for You. I know You have a plan for me, every day I wake up in the world You have a plan for me, let me not waste it listening to vain words told by others or even myself. Let me move forward with hope knowing that You have something much better planned for me than I can ever imagine myself doing. Give me Your power to overcome the constant attacks on my faith, beliefs, and integrity. I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Walking in Integrity

Message Title: Walking in Integrity
Date: Friday June 01, 2012Today's Chapters: Job 1-4
Hello My Friend,
The word integrity means, the entire, unimpaired state of any thing, particularly of the mind, it's being moral, pure, incorruptible, upright, and honest, integrity comprehends the whole moral character of a person. Even before many of us knew Christ as our Savior we walked in integrity, but once He became part of our lives it became more eminent as we learn His ways. All Christians should be able to say, “Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide.Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart. For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes: and I have walked in thy truth. I will wash mine hands in innocency: so will I compass thine altar, O LORD: That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.” - Psalms 26:1-3,6,7.
Sandwiched in the center of the Old Testament Books are known as Books of Poetry. Theses books are of human experiences of the people of God under various circumstances of their earthly lives. They first begin with the Book of Job, the Book of Job is the eighteenth book of the Old Testament/Bible and contains forty-two chapters. It is one of the oldest of the Bible books, the timeline is around the time of the Abrahamic Covenant. The author of the book is unknown, but could have been Moses or Job and it was written approximately around 1520 BC. The book was written to all people who experience suffering for unexplained reasons. The purpose of the book is to explain the question many people have, "Why do those living for God suffer?". What we are to learn from the book is that there is a spiritual reason behind all the unanswered suffering we encounter. “But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” - Job 23:10.
As Christians we expect to face affliction when we sin, however, it is a different story when we face affliction and have not been doing anything wrong. The truth is, we will all face affliction at some point in our lives regardless of how good we try to be. Why? We are in the middle of a spiritual battle between God and Satan, who will win the battle remains up to us in how we choose to handle those afflictions. One day, while God was admitting people into the Kingdom, Satan shows up. Why God allows Satan to stand at the gates of heaven is always a question, but nevertheless he was there and talking with God about Job. The interesting thing was that God was the one who brought up His name.
“And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.” - Job 1:7-11.
That old devil assumed that the only reason Job was faithful to God was because he was successful and rich, he was certain that Job would curse God and walk away from Him if he lost everything he had. God allowed Satan to afflict Job, and he was not subtle about it either, within a matter of minutes he took away Job's kids, servants, and livestock. “Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.” - Job 1:20-22.
Stunned by this, Satan showed up before God again, this time questioning Job's integrity. “And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause. And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face. And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.” - Job 2:3-6.
God told Satan, you can make him sick, but don't kill him, and that is exactly what Satan did. It was so bad that even Job's wife told him to just curse God and die, but Job never lost his integrity. “So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown. And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes. Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.” -Job 2:7-10.
Job wasn't always optimistic, he had questions as to why he was even born, but he knew that everything from God is a blessing. You know, when we are facing affliction, whether we are sick or losing things we are often prone to retrace our steps to see what we have done wrong thinking that God is punishing us. The truth is, God is not punishing us, He is merely looking for us to trust Him. God knows what is best for us and when we trust His decision He blesses us, it may not be the blessings that we expect, but everything is a blessing from God. Even when a person passes away, it is all in God's hands, God takes away our pain according to His will and how much He knows we can handle. “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” - 1 Peter 5:6-9.
Today's Prayer: God, I admit that the first thing I think of when I am being afflicted is, “What have I done and how can I fix it?” It is those thoughts that hinder me from seeing the blessings in my life through my affliction. You already know what I am going through, I just need to trust You and let You take care of it as I do what I can in my ability. Lord, help me to walk in integrity and keep looking to You for help through my affliction instead of trying to fix the problem myself without Your guidance. I love You and pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

Trust God & Rise
King James Daily Bible Study Devotional
Message Title: Trust God & Rise
Date: Wednesday May 30, 2012Today's Chapters: Esther 5-7
Hello My Friend,
Those who live with Christ in their lives are some of the most faithful, honest workers an employer can have. Sometimes that actually causes problems because other people, disloyal, dishonest workers want to prove our God to be a liar and deceive their way to the top instead of good old fashioned hard work. However, in the end those who deceive their way to the top are the ones who will fall, while those who trust God will rise. “But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you. And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.” - 2 Timothy 3:3-5.
Haman was king Ahasuerus's right hand man, Ahasuerus trusted him, but what Ahasuerus did not realize was that Haman was a wicked egotist abusing the kings name for his own glory. Haman devised a plan to have all the Jews killed, writing a decree and forging the kings seal on it. After learning of the decree Queen Esther came up with a plan to expose Haman to the king, even if that meant she would lose her life. After three days of prayer and fasting Esther approached the king.
“Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, over against the king's house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house. And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre. Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom.” - Esther 5:1-3.
Esther's modestly and humbleness brought on the favor of the king. When we humble ourselves before God, meaning when we stand before Him with submission and respect we obtain His favor. We are all sinners, not one of us is perfect, but we can receive God's grace and favor by humbling ourselves before Him. “Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.” - Psalm 138:6.
After Haman left the palace he gathered all his friends around, boasting about him being the only person at the banquet. He ran into Mordecai and devised a scheme to have him hung, he even had a gallows made especially for the job. Meanwhile king Ahasuerus was commencing Mordecai, the king sent for Haman and what he thought was going to be a proclamation to have him honored it was a proclamation to have Mordecai honored.
“So Haman came in. And the king said unto him, What shall be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honour more than to myself? And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delighteth to honour, Let the royal apparel be brought which the king useth to wear, and the horse that the king rideth upon, and the crown royal which is set upon his head: And let this apparel and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king's most noble princes, that they may array the man withal whom the king delighteth to honour, and bring him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour. Then the king said to Haman, Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at the king's gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken.” - Esther 6:6-10.
Here is this man, so conceited that he thought the king was talking about him, suggesting all the things he would want to bring honor and glory to himself and having to go before Mordecai and give him honor instead. No doubt he must have been angry, criticizing the king, and hating every moment as he watched Mordecai parading through the streets. Those who think of themselves higher than anyone else despise others being recognized for their good work. We must remember that while they have their moment of fame, it will not last. No honor will come to those who deceitfully gain their recognition. “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.” - Romans 16:17,18,20.
Haman was so busy bragging on himself that he could not see the dangers lying ahead of him. People who are stuck on themselves are fools, they think they have everyone wrapped around their little finger, but the only people they really have on their side is egomaniac, wannabes trying to be like them. Sooner or later all egos will be crushed and it was time for Haman's to be crushed, during the banquet Esther exposed Haman.
“And the king arising from the banquet of wine in his wrath went into the palace garden: and Haman stood up to make request for his life to Esther the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king. Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman was fallen upon the bed whereon Esther was. Then said the king, Will he force the queen also before me in the house? As the word went out of the king's mouth, they covered Haman's face. And Harbonah, one of the chamberlains, said before the king, Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman had made for Mordecai, who had spoken good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman. Then the king said, Hang him thereon. So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king's wrath pacified.” - Esther 7:7-10.
As Christians we should take pride in our work, regardless of what we do, we just have to be careful not to be so proud that we think of ourselves as infallible. No one is infallible except for God, we are who we are because God made us that way. It's time to examine ourselves, are we acknowledging Christ as our successor or ourselves. “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates. Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates. For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.” - 2 Corinthians 13:5-8.
Today's Prayer: God, No matter how many times I fall I know You will pick me back up, I do not need to fear what my enemies will do above me because You will bring me to glory in my time and it will be for Your glory. I trust You to lead me in Your will, help me to wait patiently and to continue by faith, knowing that one day I will succeed in what You have called me to do. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Amen.

Hello My Friend,
Surrendering one's life to serve God can be challenging at times, battles will come and go to test our faith in Him. We may have to serve Him in some uncomfortable or what seems like strange ways, but one day everything we do to serve God will pay off in a great way. “Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God; And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;” - Colossians 3:22,23.
The Book of Esther is the seventeenth book of the Old Testament/Bible and contains ten chapters. The author of the book is Mordecai and it was originally written to the Jews who where in Persia (Babylon). The timeline for these events took place approximately 521 BC to 509 BC. The purpose of the book was to continue showing the history of the Jews in captivity and to recount the divine care God has for His people. What we are to learn from the book is that God uses all people to serve Him in some way, but prepares His people to be witnesses and blessings to others in similar circumstances to help them overcome them. “For Mordecai the Jew was next unto king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed.” - Esther 10:3.
Vashti was queen to Ahasuerus, king of Persia, we do not know much about her other than she was beautiful, there was something else about her that intriguing, she would not disgrace herself, ever for her husband. When the king wanted to show off her beauty to a bunch of men, she refused and out of anger dethroned the queen.
“On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, and Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, the seven chamberlains that served in the presence of Ahasuerus the king, To bring Vashti the queen before the king with the crown royal, to shew the people and the princes her beauty: for she was fair to look on. But the queen Vashti refused to come at the king's commandment by his chamberlains: therefore was the king very wroth, and his anger burned in him. If it please the king, let there go a royal commandment from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it be not altered, That Vashti come no more before king Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal estate unto another that is better than she.” - Esther 1:10-12,19.
Vashti was not about to go against her morals and because of that she was dethroned, we are going to face many challenges, men and women alike, that will try to get us to go against our morals and many times lose our positions because we will not bow down to them. Can I tell you that if a you stick by your morals, God will bless you for it and others will come to know Christ as well. “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.” - I Timothy 4:12,13.
Ahasuerus was in search of a new queen, he sent for young virgin women all throughout the nation, Esther was one of these woman. What Ahasuerus did not know is that Esther was a Jew born into captivity, she was an orphan raised by her uncle Mordecai. Mordecai encourages Esther to join the women and after a year of a purification ritual Esther stood before the king. “Then said the king's servants that ministered unto him, Let there be fair young virgins sought for the king: And Mordecai walked every day before the court of the women's house, to know how Esther did, and what should become of her. So Esther was taken unto king Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign. And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.” - Esther 2:2,11,16,17.
Esther won the kings favor simply because she was herself, while all the other women dressed themselves to entice the king Esther remained modest, presenting herself. Esther found herself in a situation over which she had no control, she could only trust God for direction and protection. We should never doubt that God is in ultimate control to protect us and provide for His people. God never makes a mistake, is never partial, and never overlooks one of His children. “And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” - Romans 8:27-29.
After Esther became queen, king Ahasuerus promoted a wicked man named Haman, which gave him the right to enforce the king's command. Haman had become so influential with the king that the people began bowing down to him as though he were king. However, Mordecai, Esther's cousin, refused. When Mordecai refused to bow down Haman was determined to use his authority to destroy Mordecai and all Jews in the kingdom.
“After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him. And all the king's servants, that were in the king's gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence. And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath. And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.” - Esther 3:1,2,5,6.
The religion of a Jew forbade him to give honours to any mortal man who promoted idolatry, not only wasMordecai's life at stake, but all of the Jews as well, which would have included Esther. Like Mordecai, we must not bow down to the Haman's of this world who would seek to destroy our loyalty to Christ. As Christians, we are ambassadors for Christ and should maintain a dignity in our daily conduct and conversation that honors our Lord. We too may feel like a victim of circumstances beyond our control and wish for another situation where we could do something more for our Lord. There is no need to fear that you are missing God's best, just serve Him where you are, for He has placed you where you are for a reason, you are doing a great work for Him and He is rejoicing over that.
“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” - John 15:16.
Today's Prayer: God, It seems like the more I try to live my life in Your will the more opposition I face. Lord, lead me and guide me, give me Your power to withstand this opposition and strengthen me to be able to keep going for Your glory. I know that whatever I go through as long as I look to You I will see victory. I pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

Sealed By The Blood
King James Daily Bible Study Devotional
Message Title: Sealed By The Blood
Date: Sunday May 27, 2012Today's Chapters: Nehemiah 9-10
Hello My Friend,
A seal is a mark of authenticity, to mark with a stamp, as an evidence of standard exactness, to mark as ones property, and secure from danger. Every person who calls on the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior is marked with a stamp of His blood upon their souls. That mark says that we belong to Jesus and He secures us from the dangers of death, hell, and Satan. While we cannot control some of the circumstances we encounter we can control most of them by reminding ourselves that the only reason we are sealed by the blood is because Jesus gave His life for us.
“He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” - John 3:33-36.
The wall surrounding Jerusalem was complete and a revival had just begun, people were eager to know about this God that they have only heard about. There was this book to help them learn about this God, but they could not understand it because it was written in the Hebrew language (which is why the New Testament was written in the Aramaic language). Ezra and several others gathered all who wanted to know about this awesome God and attentively listened to the Book of the Law spoken to them.
“Now in the twenty and fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, and with sackclothes, and earth upon them. And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers. And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of the LORD their God one fourth part of the day; and another fourth part they confessed, and worshipped the LORD their God.” - Nehemiah 9:1-3.
Those who allow Christ to live in and through them will feel conviction from past or present sins, most immediately begin to seek forgiveness from God. It is an amazing feeling to go to God and ask Him for forgiveness and receive it, knowing that by His grace we are forgiven. When we confess our sins to God we are just getting the weight of the sin off our shoulders and one cannot help, but cry, thank God and praise Him for being such a merciful God. We must make it a point to read and learn all of God's Word, Old and New Testaments, while we are no longer subject to the Laws of Moses the principles of being godly and separated from the world still apply.
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” - 2 Timothy 3:16,17.
As Ezra read to the people they were reminded of how much God had done for them over the centuries, even millenniums, from the start of their people with Abraham to their Exodus in Egypt, to their journey in the wilderness, God was with them through it all, even when they did not live by the Law.
“Yet many years didst thou forbear them, and testifiedst against them by thy spirit in thy prophets: yet would they not give ear: therefore gavest thou them into the hand of the people of the lands. Nevertheless for thy great mercies' sake thou didst not utterly consume them, nor forsake them; for thou art a gracious and merciful God. Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the terrible God, who keepest covenant and mercy, let not all the trouble seem little before thee, that hath come upon us, on our kings, on our princes, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all thy people, since the time of the kings of Assyria unto this day. And because of all this we make a sure covenant, and write it; and our princes, Levites, and priests, seal unto it.” - Nehemiah 9:30-32,38.
Today, it is the seal of the blood of Jesus Christ that God's great mercy and grace is upon all who believe in Him. God makes a covenant with all who believe that Jesus, the sinless Son of God, died on the cross, was buried, and arose from the dead to pay the price of eternal death for their sins. That covenant is eternal life with God, never to be forsaken, always merciful and gracious, no matter how many times they sin after they are saved. God never said that He would not chasten His people for living in sin, but He did say that He would never forget those who have the seal of the blood upon them.
“Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.” - 2 Timothy 2:19-21.
The completion of the wall provided them with protection from surrounding enemies and provided them with peace of mind to hear what God had to say. Those that were sealed wanted to know all of God's Word and little by little they learned about the generations before them and how they came to be where they were at present.
“Now those that sealed were, Nehemiah, the Tirshatha, the son of Hachaliah, and Zidkijah, And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding; They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God's law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;” - Nehemiah 10:1,28,29.
"Entered into a curse", means that the people vowed to be connected to the temple as one, meaning that together they were one body of God and if they were to separate from the temple they would not know how to face affliction, placing a curse upon themselves. All who accept Jesus Christ as their Savior are One Body of Christ, we cannot be separated from God, but it can feel like it to those who are living in sin or facing affliction. Affliction comes to all, but those who separate themselves from God in a sense are cursed because they are trying to figure it out on their own, but all who come to God will find glory through them.
“Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;” - 2 Corinthians 4:14-17.
Today's Psalm: 72:14 - “He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight.”

Today's Proverb: 28:13 - “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”
Today's Prayer: Jesus, Thank You for the sacrifice You made by giving Your life so that I can have eternal life. You shed Your blood so that I did not have to spend eternity in hell, I believe in all that You are and that You alone are the only one who can save me. I am sealed by Your blood and am forever grateful for what You have done for me. Forgive me for the times I become forgetful of what You have done for me and continue to do in my life. Help me to keep stay in Your Word and follow it so that I will not become separated from Your will upon my life. I love You and pray in Your name, Jesus. Amen.
