Message TitleMake Some New Traditions

Hello My Friend,

When I was a little girl, every year we would put up Christmas decorations over the Thanksgiving weekend. I will never forget the huge artificial tree we had, it was so big that I was able to lay under it, and would fall asleep watching television. To this day, we still follow the same tradition, only I don't lay under the tree. Traditions, some may be fun, but some can be down right evil. Everything we do in life needs to line up with the Word of God, including the traditions we make up or follow. If what we are doing goes against the morals of God, than we do not need to be doing it, even if it is something passed down to us from other generations. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” - Colossians 3:16,17.

The scribes and Pharisees followed traditions made up of Jewish law, they claimed to follow the Law of Moses to the letter, but in reality they never even read the Law, but followed what they were taught by men. They questioned Jesus about His disciples violating the traditions of the eldersand became offended by His response. Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable. And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?” - Matthew 15:12-16.

What Jesus is saying here is that there traditions or rules had nothing to do with God, but were made up by man. Remember, ignorance does not save us, if we are following the traditions of some religion rather than following Christ than we will end up in hell, hence the blind leading the blind. Instead of following religions that are made up by men, claiming they know the Bible, it might be wise to see what God has to say, and follow His traditions. There are still a few churches that do make the Word of God they authority of the church, the best thing we can ever do is get into a church that not only reads from the Word of God, but follows it as well. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” - 2 Timothy 3:16,17.

If we want to follow God's traditions, first, we must believe in the Gospel, secondly, we must be saved, and third, we must believe every Word of God to be trueYou cannot believe that Jesus died, but that He did not rise from the dead, or that Mary could not have been a virgin when she conceived Jesus. That is not believing every Word of God, that is making a following a tradition, not God's. Man's traditions deceive people into thinking that they have to be a particular religion or race in order to be saved. Christ saves all who believe in Him, this was proven when a Caanite woman desperately asked Him to save her daughter.

And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.” - Matthew 15:22-28.

Believe it or not, the Jews look at anyone who is not a Jew as dogs, before dogs became the family pet, they were something so savage and fierce that they became objects of dislike. Cruel enemies were poetically styled dogs in moreover, the dog being unclean, and something the Jews would not even go near. Jesus was testing this woman's faith, the woman persisted, acknowledged that even dogs get to eat the crumbs from underthe table, even though I am not a Jew I beleive. Jesus saw her faith and healed her daughter. It does not matter if we were born of the Jews or Gentiles, Jesus came to save all and saves all who believes in Him. “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.” - 1 Corinthians 12:13.

We all have traditions, but it is important to realize that if you are saved you are heirs with Christ,
that makes you family. Since we are heirs with Christ we need to be awareof some of the customs, practices, and beliefs that we use to follow are ones we need to avoid. Instead of following the same old traditions passed down from family, perhaps it is time to make some new traditions with Christ. But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ. Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.” - 2Thessalonians 3:3,5,6.

Today's PrayerGod, I want to live by the traditions of Your Son, and make some new traditions that will glorify You. Lord, watch over me, guide me, and keep the truth in me. Help me to learn and grow in Your Word so I can be a witness and testimony of Your Law. Open my heart to be receptive to You and only You, clear my mind of every doubt and fear and fill it with joy and peace only revealed as I give myselfwholeheartedly to You. I love You, Lord and ask these things in Jesus' name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
