Message TitleThe Power In A Seed

Hello My Friend,

Seeds, have you ever noticed how powerful a seed is? In the middle of nowhere, given the right light, air, and moisture, a seed can grow, but it's the soil that will nurture it and or destroy it.Interestingly, some seeds need sun light to grow, while others need moonlight. Did you ever notice beautiful mowed lawn the next day after it rains overnight? Weeds pop up. It does not take a genius to know that there are good and bad seeds in life, we cannot always tell what is good for us in the dark, but if we follow the Son, He will sustain us. Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” - 1 Peter 1:22,23.

A parable is a short story containing a deep and powerful truth, sometimes parables seem a little off key, but if you stoop to think about it you can figure out the truth behind it. Jesus often spoke of the Kingdom of heaven through parables. Why? To see who would figure it out. Anyone who was willing to hear with an open heart what He had to say about God and heaven would figure out the meaning of the story. Jesus used several parables about seeds, both good and bad, to explain the Gospel, here we will take a look at the parable of the sower. And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up: Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.” - Matthew 13:3-9.

To explain the parable, we first need to understand who the sower is, what seed is being used, and what the different types of soil are. The sower is Jesus, God sent Him, not only to be the sacrifice that would bring all who believe in Him life, but to preach the Gospel also. The seed is the Gospel, the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, and the soil is how each individual reacts to the Gospel. Jesus explains the parable of the sower. When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” - Matthew 13:19-23.

Now, do not beat yourself up if you do not understand a parable right away, God does not always reveal things to us when we are first introduced to His Word because He waits until we have an open and willing heart. Jesus quite often had to explain the parables, even to His disciples, which brings us to another parable, this one about bad seeds. Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.” - Matthew 13:24-30.

To explain this parable we first need to understand what the sower of the good seed, the sower of the tares, and the tares are. The sower of the good seed is Jesus Himself, the sower of the tares, is the devil, and the tares are the ones who will never believe in Him. Jesus explains this further. Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field. He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.” - Matthew 13:36-40.

While God does create all, and does not want to see anyone end up in hell, He knows that some from birth will never believe because they are corrupted by the devil. By the way, the devil cannot give life, but he can corrupt life. Even he had a chance to repent, but he chose to put himself above his Creator, and for that reason he and everyone who follow him will burn in the lake of fire. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” - Revelations 20:10. “He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” - Revelation 21:7,8.

Today's PrayerGod, I love the amazing miracle that happens when a seed grows into something beautiful, but I also see the destruction that weeds do to that beauty. Lord, I want to live a life that producing good, sustaining fruit, not corruptible weeds. Give me Your power, wisdom, and guidance to be fruitful, give me an open and willing heart, and let me not be corrupted by the weeds that try to destroy every good fruit You produced in me. In Jesus' name, Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
