Today's Chapters: Matthew 12
Message Title: The Will Of God
Hello My Friend,
An amazing thing happens the second we accept the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour, we not only get to be with God, avoid hell, and find pardon of our sins, we become joint heirs with Jesus, that means we are part of His family. A lot of religions like to say that Jesus was a preacher, a prophet, or some other form of religious man, but what they fail to admit that He is the Son of God, God Himself in the flesh, who came to save all who believe in Him. And that is the will of God, to believe in the Son. “For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.” - Matthew 12:50.
All throughout Israel, word had got out of Jesus, people came from all over to get a glimpse of Him. The scribes and Pharisees, so called scholars of the Law, did not take to kindly to Jesus teaching the Law, in fact, they did everything they could to expose Him as a liar. It was thesabbath, the disciples were picking corn and eating it in the field, when the Pharisees saw this they asked Him why they were doing work on the sabbath. “But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him; Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple. But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.” - Matthew 12:3,5-8.
Orthodox Jews are the Pharisees of today, they will not even turn on a light switch on a sabbath for fear that they would go against the Law. Sabbath days were meant to be a time to put aside day to day activities, and use that time to spend with God. Religions do not follow the Word of God, they follow laws and traditions made up within their leaders. Oh, and they love to throw out Scripture too, in fact, the devil himself will throw out Scripture, that doesn't mean that they are correct in their teaching. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.” - 2 Timothy 2:15,16.
Seeing that they could not prove their case, the Pharisees got together to find some accusation, that they might condemn Jesus to death. Aware of their plot, Jesus left, and so did the people. This would be the start of the Gentiles seeking and finding Jesus. “Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him. But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all; And charged them that they should not make him known: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles. And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.” - Matthew 12:14-18,21.
It's sad, but thousands of unsaved people get healed miraculously every day, but very few will admit that God was the one who touched them. It did not take the Pharisees long before they were at it again, this time they even accused Him of being of the devil himself. “And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges. But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.” - Matthew 12:25-28.
What Jesus is saying here is that if He were of the devil He would be casting out everyone that was evil and opposed God and if He did that then there would be no one left, but God's people. So, naturally the devil is not going to cast away those who believe as he does because he himself would be cast out. I cannot stress enough how important it is for all to realize that religion is the biggest downfall of Christianity and will be what destroys the world. Religion goes well beyond Christianity, religious leaders create their own rules, books, and gods, even evolution is a religion, and the head of all false religion is the devil himself. “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.” -1 Peter 5:8-10.
False religions question Jesus at every level, they want physical proof that He literally came from a virgin, died, was buried, and resurrected three days later. Of course, there is proof, but do you think that God will let the wicked destroy those truths like everything else they have destroyed about God. When the scribes and Pharisees asked them for a sign that all Jesus was teaching about the kingdom would come to pass, He told them what their sign would be. “But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.” - Matthew 12:39-42.
Religion always seeks a sign in front of them that God exists and the Gospel is true, but true Christians live by faith, holding on to the true Gospel. They live godly lives, not because they have to, but because they choose Christ. It is only by our faith in Him that we can see wonderful things happening in our lives right before our eyes as we follow His will. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” - Hebrews 11:1,5.
Today's Prayer: God, I want to live in Your. Lord, lead me and guide me, give me Your power to live in Your will, and let me not be persuaded to follow religion or any other attempts to get me away from Your truths. I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
