In Due Season

Hello My Friend,

As born again Christians, t
he cross which connects us with God separates us from the world, having died with Christ, we should be done with the world, having risen with Christ, we are connected with God in a new life. A new life in Christ is not simply one of being good, but of doing good. It manifests itself, not by taking a “more holy than thou” attitude, but by bearing the burdens of others and seizing every opportunity to help the saints and save the sinners. Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” - Galatians 6:6-10.

David was just a teen when Samuel arrived at his father's house and anointed him to be the next king of Israel, chosen by God Himself. When that would be he had no idea, but he believed God and was patient to receive that honor the way God would have him and not by force. However, others, looking to find personal gain in seeing David become king of all of Israel had no problem using force to get him on the throne. Once again we learn of two men who took it upon themselves to kill Ishbosheth in hopes that it would give them recognition from David.
And they brought the head of Ishbosheth unto David to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ishbosheth the son of Saul thine enemy, which sought thy life; and the LORD hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed. And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the LORD liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity, When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings: How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth? And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.” - 2 Samuel 4:8-12.

David made the right judgment in having these men executed, they shed innocent blood to benefit themselves, David knew the throne would be his, but did not want to get it by unlawful practices. He knew God got him through many circumstances and would get him through many more as well. When we put our faith and trust in Christ He will guide us to where He wants us to be, He promises to always do what He says He will do, but we must be willing to wait for His timing. God will not give us anything by unlawful practices, those who think they got something by being deceitful will face the consequences for their actions. “
For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.” - Romans 16:18.

Now, that Ishbosheth was dead and Israel had no king they decided it was best to make David king, about twelve years after Samuel anointed him as king of all Israel, David finally becomes king. “
Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh. Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel. So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel. David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.” - 2 Samuel 5:1-4.

This marked one of the greatest days in Israel's history, all of Israel reigned under one king. David's first act was to become head of his army and lead the war against the stronghold of the Jebusites. The Israelites defeated them and Jerusalem became the capital of the United Kingdom. One day there will come a time when all of God's people will reign under one King, that King, is Jesus Christ, and it will be the greatest day in all heaven and earth. “
And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.” - Revelation 11:15.

David began a new life as king of Israel, he owed all his success to God and did not hesitate to acknowledge that and tell others as well. He lacked one thing though, he did not have the Word of God with him so he was unaware of some of the laws and commands of God. To his surprise he saw first hand just how God's judgment even through ignorance. David, along with thirty thousand men, went up to get the Ark of God. Here they are, just dancing and singing in the streets and all of a sudden, trying to keep the Ark from falling off the cart Uzzah touched it and died instantly. “
And when they came to Nachon's threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it. And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God. And David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach upon Uzzah: and he called the name of the place Perezuzzah to this day. And David was afraid of the LORD that day, and said, How shall the ark of the LORD come to me?” - 2 Samuel 6:6-9.

David was humiliated, offended, and afraid of God that day, but he then humbly prayed to God and asked Him what they needed to do to get the Ark to Jerusalem. It's important to know all of God's Word so we know the dangers that are before us, it's like a person who accidentally touches a live wire and gets shocked to death because he did not check to see if it was live. Ignorance does not save us from death, only awareness does, God does not want us to die and end up in hell, but He will not save anyone through ignorance. Sadly, it often takes the death of someone to make people aware that hell is real and the only way to avoid it is through Jesus Christ. “
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.” - Romans 5:10.

After all the trials and circumstances David faced and endured God gave him a time of rest and peace. David sat before God in awe of how far he had come and how blessed he was.
Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?..For thy word's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know them. Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears...And now, O LORD God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said...And now, O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant: Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.” - 2 Samuel 7:18,21,22,25,28,29.

The true Christian, who lets Christ be Lord of their lives, never understands how God still uses them after all the things they have done and still do. However, they know that it is an honor to serve God and be used of Him in whatever calling He gives them. We can all side with David in saying, “Thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee. Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.”

Today's Psalm: 145:15 - “The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.
Today's Proverb: 15:23 - “A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!
Today's Prayer: God, In any given day we should be able to stop, look at the life we have now and see how far we have come since we came to know Your Son. It's not so easy to see those blessings if we are facing trials or haven't had a chance to get to get to known You like we should. Lord, my heart is often willing, but my circumstances often hinder me from going any further in my walk with You. Lead me and guide me, help me to see beyond the circumstances I face and look to You, who will see me through and bless me for enduring it all by my faith and trust in You. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Enjoy the rest of your day/night. God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
