Title: I
Have Your Back
Hello My Friend,
It
seems like not a day goes by that we are not hearing of a Christian
getting caught in sin. You know, we are all sinners, we have all done
things that we are not proud of, and will be accountable for them,
whether we choose to believe it is sin or not. God's people are His
people, we are going to be judged by God and man, but He has our
back. “But why dost thou judge thy brother?
or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand
before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written, As I live,
saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall
confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself
to God.” - Romans 14:10-12.
Let me tell you, if
they are not ashamed to proclaim Christ that does not mean they are
the model Christian. In fact, if a faithful Christian has some secret
sin you can be sure that God will be expose in public because He is a
just God and must straighten out His people. That does not mean He
wants the world to decide what punishment they get or take advantage
of them. (I mistakenly added chapter 35 to yesterdays devotion, guess
I needed to read it twice to see a different side to the message).
So, here's the picture, Mt. Seir, which is Edom, descendants of Esau,
Jacob's twin brother, whom had a hatred toward his brother since they
were born. Edom, not only boasted over their fall, they vowed to take
the land for themselves. God, tells Ezekiel of the judgment they
face.
“Son of man, set thy face
against mount Seir, and prophesy against it, And say unto it, Thus
saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O mount Seir, I am against thee, and I
will stretch out mine hand against thee, and I will make thee most
desolate. I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate,
and thou shalt know that I am the LORD. Because thou hast had a
perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel
by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time
that their iniquity had an end: Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord
GOD, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee:
sith thou hast not hated blood, even blood shall pursue thee. Thus
will I make mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it him that
passeth out and him that returneth. Thus with your mouth ye have
boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have
heard them.” - Ezekiel 35:2-7,13.
I
have heard them, God hears and knows everything that is going
on, not only with His people, but the world as well, especially when
they are messing with His people. There are many Christian haters out
there boasting over those who are being persecuted for getting caught
in sin. God's people may get into some trouble, but they are His
people, He deals with them, and they will learn the hard way that He
is the Almighty God who protects His own. “Let
your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such
things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor
forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I
will not fear what man shall do unto me. But to do good and to
communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for
they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they
may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for
you.” - Hebrews 13:5,6,16,17.
For they watch for
your souls, the world hates Christians and they will watch faithful
Christians like a hawk to see if they will fall, but all will give an
account for their sin, Christian or not. As God foretells the
judgments faced for nations who are against Israel, He turns back to
Israel, reminding them that even though they mess up a lot, He still
has their back. “Son of man, when the house
of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own way
and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a
removed woman. And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they
went, they profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are
the people of the LORD, and are gone forth out of his land. But I had
pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among
the heathen, whither they went. Therefore say unto the house of
Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O
house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake, which ye have
profaned among the heathen, whither ye went. And I will sanctify my
great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have
profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am
the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you
before their eyes.” - Ezekiel 36:17,20-23.
I do
not this for your sakes, not of our own righteousness are we saved,
but by the promise God made when we believe in and accepted His Son.
Believe it or not, many professing Christians have tainted the name
of God, their sinful and sometimes wicked behavior has stopped many
people from coming to Christ. However, those who put shame upon God’s
people, even though God may have used them to serve a purpose for His
glory, will sooner or later be shamed themselves. “Be
not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. Awake to
righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I
speak this to your shame.” - 1 Corinthians 15:33,34.
God,
will let us fall sometimes, He will let us get into all sorts of
trouble, but He never gives up on us, and while we do have to face
some consequences for our actions, He always has our back. Through
Ezekiel, He foretells the glorious day when all His people will come
together to one place, and one King who will reign over all.
“And
say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the
children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and
will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:
And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of
Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no
more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any
more at all: Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their
idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their
transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces,
wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my
people, and I will be their God. And David my servant shall be king
over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk
in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them. And they shall
dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein
your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and
their children, and their children's children for ever: and my
servant David shall be their prince for ever.” - Ezekiel
37:21-25.
People underestimate God, they really let their
pride keep them from coming to Him when they mess up. The majority of
the time, when people get away from God and caught up in a mess, they
fear going back to Him because they do not want to be chastised.
Guess what? You already have been chastised. God loves you and all He
wants if for you to admit You messed up. If Jesus can save you from
your hell, He certainly can save you from the hell you are in for not
making Him Lord of your life. “My little
children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any
man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the
righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours
only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” - 1
John 2:1,2.
Today's Prayer:
Jesus, Thank You for taking my place on the cross, and for giving us
hope with. It is because of Your resurrection that we have hope
of our future resurrection, when our bodies will be stripped of the
graven clothes of this mortal life, and clothed in eternal life.
We will no longer be acquainted with sickness, sorrow, pain, or sin.
The temptation to sin will not even exist in our future life and our
adversary, the devil, will bother us no more. What anticipation this
builds when we see You face to face in our glorified, eternal
bodies. Keep us faithful and looking unto You until the day You
return. It's comforting to know that You have our back, even if we
mess up. In Your name, Jesus, Amen.
God Bless You, I am
praying for you,
Christina
