Hello My Friend/Guest,
“At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” - Matthew 11:25-30.
Everyone that knows me knows that the Book of Job is very special to me, it was life changing for me and every time I read it I thank God for pulling me out of the deepest pit that I had dug myself into. You know, at times, no matter how strong our faith in Christ, things can overwhelm us so much that even when we are serving Him we can not see Him, our souls become weak, weary, and lifeless. We can go years serving God, praying, and reading our Bibles in hopes that we will see some kind of light at the end of the tunnel, but you are not alone, Christ is with you and He will give rest unto your soul.
Job had had enough he lost his family, possessions, business, health, all in a matter of days, his wife was in such grief that she told him to curse God and die. None of his relatives or friends wanted to get near him except for three men who kept nagging and criticizing him, he even told them that they were a miserable bunch of comforter. At this point he just wanted God to take him and ease him from all this pain.
“My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are ready for me...Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow. Upright men shall be astonied at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite. The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger. But as for you all, do ye return, and come now: for I cannot find one wise man among you. My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart. They change the night into day: the light is short because of darkness.” - Job 17:1,7-12.
Notice, he says, “My thoughts change day and night.” Job really did not want to die, his heart was burdened. When our hearts are burdened it literally kills us inside and our thoughts change like the weather. We have learned a lot about the soul the past few days, but it's the heart that determines how our soul feels. The heart is the center of our will, it's the secret purposes, intentions or designs within us that can break it and cause us to lose our faith in God. However, we can find rest for our heart and souls as we read God's Word. “Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” - Hebrews 4:11,12.
As Job was hearing more criticism from his friends he began thinking more wisely, realizing that although he did not see God in any of this, and that all his family and friends looked upon him as a stranger, that God was there somewhere watching all this and He knew the truth about him.
“Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net. Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment... For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me. But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me? Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.” - Job 19:6,7,25-29.
God knows who we are, every person can be against you in the world, but God knows the truth about you. God sees past the feeling of your heart and looks into the soul, if your soul has the blood of Christ applied upon it than you have been redeemed. “That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ...Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;” - Ephesians 2:12,13,19. Praise God!
If your heart is burdened, Jesus will give rest to your soul, I will be the first to admit that our faith in Christ goes up and down like a roller coaster, one second it can be so high that nothing is impossible, the next it can be so low that everything seems impossible. However, nothing is impossible with God, we will overcome every one of the circumstances we face, even if our faith is like a roller coaster. Remember, all we need is a tiny bit of faith in Christ and we not only find rest for our souls we also find out that nothing truly is impossible with God. “And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” - Matthew 17:20,21.
Sometimes, in fact, most often, in order for us to realize that we have been seeking every other means except Jesus to give rest to our souls God has to burden us even more. He doesn't do it to hurt us, but to show us how much He loves us and wants to help us. But in order to receive that help we need to spend more time with Him in prayer, perhaps giving up something we really enjoy for Him. “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” - James 4:8-10.
God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
