Message Title: A Nation Under God

A nation, most would say that a nation is a country, but a nation is more than a piece of land in where we choose to live, a nation is a group of people united under the same government or sovereign (God). There is a reason why the Pledge of Allegiance of the United States of America says one nation under God, America was founded in the very principals of the Word of God. Now, with that said, it is not a requirement for every American to believe in God to be in America, but it is a requirement if we want to be a nation under God. “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.” - Psalm 33:12.

Message Title: A Nation Under God

While all nations were encouraged to believe in Christ regardless of who they were, God inspired the authors of the Gospel books to attract a certain group of people first, letting us all know that Christ will accept all, not just one nation. John's telling of the Gospel is set to attract Gentiles, those who were not Jews. As Jesus was headed back to Galilee, he felt the need to stop in Samaria, a nation despised by the Jews. While His disciples went to get something to eat, He sat by a well, and it was there that He met the woman He wanted to meet Him. He ask her for a drink of water.
“Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” - John 4:9-11,19-24.
Religions are good at telling people that God is true and right, but when they are teaching a doctrine that goes against the Word of God they are teaching them to worship a false god. Those who truly worship the Almighty God Himself, are more than Jews that believe, they are every nation (group of people), that believe in the only one who can give them living water.“Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: For there is no respect of persons with God.” - Romans 2:9-11.
You can enjoy the things of this world for a season, but you will always remain thirsty for more, Jesus is changing your life as you speak, you can go with the flow, remain thirsty, and never be satisfied or you can refresh yourself in the living waters of Jesus Christ. The woman not only believed in Him, she got saved, left her water pot, and ran back to town to tell her people about Jesus. “The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? Then they went out of the city, and came unto him. And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did. So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days. And many more believed because of his own word; And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.” - John 4:28-30,39-42.
Many got saved that day, becoming a part of a nation under God, being a nation of God started with one believer, and that believer talking to others. Not all will believe in and accept Christ, but when we truly believe in Him, we will not be ashamed to tell others about Him. We must believe in the Son to get to the Father. “For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” - John 5:22-24.
To be in the nation of God, each individual needs to believe in and accept Christ themselves, there is no other way to God unless we first believe in the Son. Quite often, God will use miracles of healing to show people who He is in hopes of their coming to Him. There was a healing pool that people with every kind of illness, sickness or disease would gather around. In order for them to be healed they needed to be the first to get into the pool when an angel would come to stir up the water. Jesus, watched a man struggle to get up the steps to the pool.
“When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath. The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed. He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk. Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk? And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place. Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.” - John 5:6-10-14.
Many people want to believe in someone who can help them through their infirmities, some people are in so much pain that they will do anything to find some relief. Some are quick to seek God for help, but once they are healed go back to living they way they were living. Jesus saw itimportant to give this caution, He knew that his infirmities were the result of sin in his life, andspoke of the wrath to come, if he went back to his sinful ways. A nation of God is not formed of those just receiving Christ to be justified for their sins, it is formed by those who, willingly live by the Word of God, and follow His commands, even though it is not necessary for their salvation.“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” - 1 Corinthians 6:9-11,20.
Today's Prayer: Jesus, It's truly amazing the sacrifices and humility You faced just to save us, the ridicule, false accusations, pain, and suffering that no one here could endure so that we could pass from death to life. Thank You for what You have done for me, for opening my heart, for giving me life through Your death, burial, and resurrection. Open the hearts of those who have them closed to You, open our hearts that we might tell all we know about You so that they too can pass from death to life. In Your name Jesus. Amen.
