Message Title: Afflicted Under Government Laws
Hello My Friend,
I do not like to talk about politics and the government because it quite frankly goes against everything that God stands for anymore. Well, today I am going to come out and say what's on my mind because the decision made in America by the Supreme Court last week is going to cause a deep impact on faithful Christians. The Supreme Court ruled that every state must recognize same sex couples the right to marry and receive the same benefits as a man and woman would. Now, every person has the right to choose the way they live, but now the government is involved and that is what is going to cause problems for churches and businesses who stand by God and His every word. They are going to be picked on, targeted, and condemned for standing by their right to refuse service to anyone opposing this, pointing us out as racists hypocrites, who are discriminating against them. Can I tell you that God knew this was coming, that He is going to protect His faithful, and that no one can force us to go against Him. “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” - Romans 12:19-21.
We cannot stop the government from passing laws that try to force those who live by every Word of God to comply to their demands, but we can know our rights and not be afraid to speak up and stand for them. Are we going to be afflicted? Yes we are, but that does not mean that God is not with us nor that He will just let them get away with it. God gave us a Psalm for when we are being afflicted and overwhelmed. A special introduction is given to it. A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed, and poureth out his complaint before the LORD. “Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee. Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily. For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth. My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread. I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations. Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed: But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.” Psalms 102:1-4,24-27.
We have nothing to fear when we put our trust, faith, and afflictions in the hands of God. We are going to be tempted, tried, and even persecuted for standing up for our rights to stand with God, but God will protect us one way or another. We must realize that we cannot fight the government, in fact, God frowns upon us rebelling against them, we can however change the government by being the examples we are supposed to be. Right now the world is having a victory party over this and they are plotting all kinds of schemes to get Christians to forsake God and follow the law. It's going to take strong Christians, under the wings of God to be prepared to fight, and we will win. They have their laugh now, but God will have the last laugh. “Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.” - Revelation 2:16.
David knew all too well the afflictions caused by an ungodly government, but he also knew the mercies of God. Every faithful Christian who walks with Christ daily understands the mercies of God. This Psalm reminds us that God never runs out of mercy. “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's. The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel. The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.” - Psalms 103:1-9.
For those who have gotten away from God and or completely rebelled against Him, this is a reminder that God's mercy endures. Affliction will come by rebelling against God, and He will definitely make sure that while they live here on earth they will suffer in their own sins. However, because of His mercies that are endless, He will not forsake them, and He will not cast them out. “If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.” - 1 John 5:16-18.
There does come a time when God will have no mercy, and when that day comes we better be thankful and glad that we will be safe. “I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD. Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.” - Psalms 104:33-35.
We must remember how merciful God is to everyone, even the vilest of sinners can be saved if they repent and ask Jesus to save them. Repent meaning, turn away from believing that our own righteousness can save us or even that Jesus does not exist. “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.” - Acts 3:19-21.
Today's Prayer: God, You knew exactly when the laws of our government that were written under Your Word would be undermined and turned to satisfy the immoral and corrupt world. While You tell us to have respect and obey the laws, You also tell us to obey Yours. When affliction arises as we obey You and try to comply with the law under Your Word, give us Your power, wisdom, and guidance to know how to handle them. Put Your hedge of protection around us and let us not fall into the traps of those just itching to try and catch us breaking the law. I ask these things in Jesus name, Amen.
God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
