Enduring Mishaps

Date: Sunday, June 28, 2015
Chapters: Psalms 95-101
Message Title: Enduring Mishaps

Hello My Friend,

It is easy to praise God when everything is going well, and even when a few mishaps come our way, but when those mishaps become more and more those praises tend to fade. God knows what is going on, He feels our pain, and wants it to subside and getting it to subside really has more to do with us than God. The key is praising Him when we do not feel like it, the more we praise Him through our mishaps the more we increase our faith, and the more we increase our faith the better things will get. “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.” - Psalms 100.

Since we are made in the image of God, we must realize that everything we feel, He feels, believe it or not, God has deep sorrow for us, especially those who are His children. He doesn't want us to suffer, it's the devil who places affliction upon us in the first place. Yes, God does allow the devil to afflict us, but how can we expect God to show He is alive and living in us if we only praise Him when everything is good. “O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker. For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.” - Psalms 95:1-3,6-9.

God does not have to get anyones approval for anything that He does, but He does want to prove to us that with Him nothing is impossible. When we praise Him through the mishaps we tell Him that we trust Him and know that nothing is impossible with Him. “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” - Matthew 19:26.

Mishaps can come from nothing we do to ourselves, but from those who reject God. One day all nations will know Christ, those who reject Him now are in for a rude awakening, and sadly, we who are saved have to endure some of the mishaps, but we will be saved from judgment. “O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth. Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens. Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. Say among the heathen that the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously. Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof. Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice Before the LORD: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.” - Psalms 96:1-610-13.

Anyone can escape judgment, salvation is made available to everyone that believes in and receives Christ as their Saviour. The poor, rich, healthy, crippled, happy, sad, black, white, murderer, and liar all have a chance to know His Son and be saved. “The LORD hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen. He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise. Sing unto the LORD with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm. With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.” - Psalms 98:2-6.

Every opportunity is and opportunity to praise God, even through His judgment, His judgments are righteous and just, He does not treat one person better than the other, we all have the same opportunities. God will not force Himself upon anyone, but every knee will bow and He will judge us accordingly. We have no one, but ourselves to blame for any mishaps caused by rejecting Christ or being saved and living a wicked life, we may not lose our salvation, but He will judge us too. “I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing. I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person. Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer. Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me. He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight. I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the LORD.” - Psalms 101.

Mishaps come and go, but God's love for His people never goes. Of course, we are going to get chastened sometimes, even for things we have not done, but it's to teach us to walk in a perfect way. Are we always going to walk in a perfect way? No, but thankfully we have a perfect Christ walking with us to guide our steps and get us back to where we need to be. We will never see perfect until the day we get to heaven or see Christ, but we can live a life that is holy so that when mishap after mishaps comes we can endure them with Christ. “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.” - 1 Peter 5:6-10.

Today's Prayer: God, As we walk the path You have given us, we cannot avoid some of the mishaps that come our way, but it's comforting to know that they do not last and we can endure them with You. Thank You for loving us and giving us all an opportunity to know Your Son, and thank You for Your mercy and grace to save a sinner like me. Lord, when I am overburdened with mishaps give me Your power and strength to endure them. Keep me looking to You, help me to focus on what You have waiting for me at the end of these trials, and let me praise You through the good, bad, and ugly times in my life. Increase my faith and trust in You, put Your hedge of protection around me, and get the devil away from me. I ask these things in Jesus' name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
