Message: Deuteronomy: Keep God With You

Hello My Friend,

The Christian walk is not promised to be a smooth path, but it is promised to be one in which God walks with us along every path we take the second we receive His Son as our Saviour. Now, what happens if we ever turned down a wrong path and lost our way with God? He is right there, just turn around, He will wrap His arms around you and love you just like He always does. “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” - 1 Peter 5:6,7.

When we first choose Christ we get this strength that we never had before, it is as if every weight that held us down comes off and we can move again. Then something happens, trials come, if we are dealing with something already they seemed to escalate, or new ones showed up. These trials can either increase or decrease our faith according to how we handle them and whether or not we hold on to Christ while we are going through them. The Israelites were about to take that step over into the promised land, and it was not going to be easy, they would have to take the land for their possession. Moses encourages them to keep God and His word with them always.

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles, When all Israel is come to appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing. Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law: And that their children, which have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.” - Deuteronomy 31:5,6,10-13.

he it is that doth go with thee;” When we are faithful to God, He is faithful to us, He goes wherever we go. He is always faithful to us, but He blesses us more for our faithfulness. It is the few and faithful that God uses to keep His Word going strong, He appoints people of all walks of life to preach and teach His word so that all have the opportunity to know it. Let me tell you, this world is falling apart because they have forgotten to preach the word of God and many who know it are not telling it. It is time to dust off the Bibles, get those eyes in there, and listen to what God is saying. “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” - Ephesians 4:29,30.

Sometimes God's people do get caught up in a mess and can get so far away from Him that He is no where to be found, but God knows who His people are, He never forgets them, and He knows where they can be found. Moses finished his speech to the Israelites with a song that God wanted them to remember and sing often. It was not a typical uplifting song, it was a solemn song, one that foretold their turning their back o Him. The objective of this song was to remind them of God's judgment and salvation to all who come to the Rock.

Because I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our God. He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children: they are a perverse and crooked generation. Do ye thus requite the LORD, O foolish people and unwise? is not he thy father that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee? They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger. They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not. Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.” - Deuteronomy 32:3-6,16-18.

is not he thy father that hath bought thee?” Jesus is the Rock, which means safety, refuge, and the Almighty God Himself, when people reject Jesus they reject God. Those who reject Jesus corrupt themselves and are usually the most rebellious, foolish, and unwise people about God, they literally make up their own god and religions. Jesus bought the soul of every person who believes in Him with His own life. Those who believe in Him and receive Him belong to Him, and only they have the power to overcome the trials in their lives. “For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant. Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.” - 1 Corinthians 7:22,23.

If we are going to turn away from God we can expect chastening, after all He is our Father and is only trying to get us to come to Him. One of two things will happen, He will either get us to return to Him while we are yet alive or our sin will be the death of us and He will bring us home so we do not make an even more mess of our lives. Keep in mind that God will only let His children go so far before He pulls them back. Moses reminds Israel about the inheritance and blessings they were about to receive from God, it was not by their own righteousness, but by the promise He made.

And this is the blessing, wherewith Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death. There is none like unto the God of Jeshurun, who rideth upon the heaven in thy help, and in his excellency on the sky. The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them. Israel then shall dwell in safety alone: the fountain of Jacob shall be upon a land of corn and wine; also his heavens shall drop down dew. Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places.” - Deuteronomy 33:1,26-29.

The eternal God is thy refuge,” Christ is eternal salvation, therefore, those who receive Him have eternal salvation. That is not because of our righteousness, it is because of the promise God made to never leave nor forsake anyone who receives His Son. You know if we depended on our own righteousness to receive things we would get absolutely nothing. No one wants to give people things when they are arrogant and proud. That is why God does not give salvation or any part of His inheritance to us by our own righteousness, but by the grace of God.“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” - Ephesians 2:8-10.

Jesus Christ Revealed: Today Jesus is revealed in several places, He is the one who goes before and walks with His believers. He is the Rock upon which we stand, and He is also our eternal refuge.

Today's Prayer: Jesus, Thank You for the safety You place on Your sheep, even if we wander away from You and get lost, You know where to find us. You only let us go through so much before you start calling for us to return to You. Thank You for Your love, patience, and never letting go of us, there really is nothing we can do to thank You, but let You live in and through us. Lord, give us Your power, strength, and wisdom to withstand the evils of the day and help us to live our lives by Your example. In Your name, Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
