Chapters: Joshua 3-5
Message: Joshua: See God Do Wonders

Hello My Friend,

Wonder, That emotion which is excited by the presentation of sight or mind, of something new, unusual, strange, great, extraordinary, or not well understood. The greatest wonder we will ever know is Jesus Christ, how He gave His life so that we might live, not only in this lifetime, but for eternity in His Kingdom. Once we believe and receive Christ, that alone is enough to know how great God is, but He does not stop there, if we are faithful to Him, He gives us much more than that. “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.” - 1 Peter 1:7-9.

That the trial of your faith,” Ninety percent of our walk with Christ is a trial of our faith, it is not to question our salvation, but whether or not we are willing to put our faith and trust in Him beyond our salvation. Now, Joshua gathered all the congregation together to make the trip over the Jordan, the interesting thing was, no boats. How was the entire congregation going to get there on foot? First he instructed the Levites, those who carried the ark, to go ahead of everyone else, to start walking and stop when they get to the water.

And Joshua spake unto the priests, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass over before the people. And they took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people. And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee. And thou shalt command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye are come to the brink of the water of Jordan, ye shall stand still in Jordan. And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,) That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.” - Joshua 3:6-8,15,16.

ye shall stand still in Jordan.” Sometimes we have to stand still in order to see the wonders of God. He is always before us, preparing our path, and if we walk ahead of Him we cannot see Him, likewise, if we lag too far behind. By standing still we not only see which way we are to go, we see God, who is always doing something mighty. “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.” - 1 Corinthians 2:9,10.

Just as Moses was able to lead the Israelites across the Red Sea on dry land with God's mighty hand, Joshua led the new generation across the Jordan River the same way. When they got there, the very first thing God commanded them to do was gather twelve stones out of the Jordan, one man from each tribe was to gather a stone to represent each of the children of Israel.

And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho. And those twelve stones, which they took out of Jordan, did Joshua pitch in Gilgal. And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones? Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land. For the LORD your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as the LORD your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were gone over: That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the LORD your God for ever.” - Joshua 4:19-24.

that ye might fear the LORD your God for ever.” You know, the greatest way to see the wonders of God before our eyes is to fear God, to love Him and remain faithful to Him no matter what we are going through. Is it always going to be easy to fear God? No. Temptations, emotions, circumstances, our own lack of faith, they all cause us to do some things we are not proud of sometimes, even being faithful to Him. That is why we are a work in progress, we will never be sin free or problem free until we see Christ, but we can endure all things by remaining faithful to God at all times. “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.” - Mark 12:30,31.

The majority of us when we first get saved have no idea what the Bible says, so a lot of what we know about God and Jesus came from what others told us. Once we get in the word of God we realize it is nothing like we were taught, then we learn, we observe, we do, and we grow as the Holy Spirit redirects our path. In the forty years that the new generation had been the wilderness none of the statutes and observances had been carried out, first, God commanded Joshua to circumcise all the males, and then they observed the first passover.

And Joshua made him sharp knives, and circumcised the children of Israel at the hill of the foreskins. Now all the people that came out were circumcised: but all the people that were born in the wilderness by the way as they came forth out of Egypt, them they had not circumcised. And their children, whom he raised up in their stead, them Joshua circumcised: for they were uncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them by the way. And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month at even in the plains of Jericho. And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant? And the captain of the LORD'S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.” - Joshua 5:3,5,7,10-15.

for they were uncircumcised,” Being uncircumcised was a matter of uncleanness, any male not circumcised was considered dirty and not of God. We must be clean, sin free, to be able to enjoy fellowship with God and see Him do wonders in our lives. Jesus cleans us the second we receive Him as our Saviour, coming to Him is the only way anything we do for God counts. We can follow all kinds of rules, praise and worship God all day long, but unless we are saved, unless we have circumcised the foreskin our heart, God will not acknowledge us. “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:” - Colossians 2:8-11.

Jesus Christ Revealed: Today, Jesus is revealed through the Ark that goes before us and guides us, and as the Captain of the LORD'S host.

Today's Prayer: God, Thank You for accepting me and making me one of Your children when I choose Your Son as my Saviour. Today, I am a sinner saved by Your grace, and while I know there is nothing that I need to do to keep my salvation, I still want to live my life as the godly example You would like for me to be so that I can see You doing more wonders in my life. Lord, lead me and guide me, give me Your power to stay faithful to You, give me the wisdom to understand Your word, and let me never forget all that You have done for me. Keep me looking forward to what You have waiting for me on the other side of this Jordan as I allow You to direct my path. Help me to be strong and of a good courage in all that You bring me to and through. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
