Message: Deuteronomy: Observe and Do

Hello My Friend,

I use to think that everything I did on this earth was on a scale, all the good on one, all the bad on the other. When the bad started to outweighed the good I thought there was no way God wanted any part of me, and forget about salvation I never even knew that existed. Then when I actually learned what Jesus and salvation was really about I truly understood the mercy and grace of God. False religion or mans ideas on how to worship God is not acceptable to God, in fact, it has nothing to do with worshiping the Almighty and only living God. Only when we observe His word and do what is in it can we be acceptable to God. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” - 2 Timothy 2:15.

Observe, To keep religiously; to celebrate; To keep into practice. Billions of people believe in God, but they all have their own ideas on how they communicate with Him, most of which do not. God gave us His word so we can know how to worship Him the way we are supposed to. I am sure when Moses was telling the Israelites all the things that God was expecting of them they were probably a little scared, I image even some were a bit apprehensive at the thought of having to obey so many rules. Moses encourages them to observe the law, telling them of the blessings they will receive by doing so, but he also gives them a stern warning should they rebel.

If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD; Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance. Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee. Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed. And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God. And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.” - Deuteronomy 28:58-63.

so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you,” Do you think that God wants to see anyone end up in hell? No, He does not. However, He is God, and that means He is a just God and He will not be mocked. He cannot stop anyone from doing what they want to do, that includes rebelling against Him, but if we are going to worship Him He expects us to do it His way. A relationship with God has never been about following a bunch of rules, God knows as long as we have this flesh we cannot possibly obey them all, it is about loving Him and making Him LORD of our lives. “Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him: But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.” - Ecclesiastes 8:12,13.

Many people question God or reject Him because of the judgments that came from ignoring His word. God did not want these things to happen, in fact, He did everything possible to keep them from happening, but it was out of His hands, once they choose the path they followed there was no turning back unless they repented. But God knew they were going to happen, which is why He reminds them that He made a promise and will keep it.

Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do. Ye stand this day all of you before the LORD your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel, Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water: That thou shouldest enter into covenant with the LORD thy God, and into his oath, which the LORD thy God maketh with thee this day: That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath; But with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:” - Deuteronomy 29:9-15.

Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;” God makes the same promise to all who believe in and receive His Son, eternal life in His Kingdom. When we are living our lives with Christ in it, we are doing so of our own free will. While God can always intervene at any time, He will not mess with a persons free will, but that does not mean that judgment will not come. No one is exempt from judgment, but we can be exempt from eternal death. “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.” - John 5:24,28-30.

The problem is that we try to do good to get God's approval, but instead of seeking it the way He wants, we do what we think is right. As long as we get in His word and do what He wants us to do then we will not have to worry about the consequences that come from doing what is right in our own eyes. When I think of all the years I wasted trying to do good in hopes of getting to heaven and what could have happened if I died without receiving Christ as my Saviour I cringe. I have family that died and are in hell because they never knew the truth, it angers me to no end that they were lied to under false religion. God can always turn a curse into a blessing, He promises to never give up on the Israelites, and He promises the same to all who hear His voice.

And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee, And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul; That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee. If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the LORD thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee: And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers. And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.” - Deuteronomy 30:1-6.

And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart,” Before we know Christ as our Saviour we are caught up in trying to do things we feel are right in hopes that it will please God and take us to heaven, this is false religion. Here is the key, our heart, when God nudges at our heart and we listen to Him, that is what pleases Him, and unless we receive His Son, there is no pleasing Him. He is the one who circumcises our heart to see the truth and obey it. “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:” - Colossians 2:8-11.

Jesus Christ Revealed: Today Jesus is revealed through the one who turns curses into blessings when we listen to His voice.

Today's Prayer: God, You love us too much to see us suffering, especially for things unnecessary. You do not give us rules to stop us from living a great life, but so we can live the greatest life with You in it. We often forfeit blessings or even bring about curses because we are too proud to follow Your rules. Thank You for Your mercy and grace to never leave nor forsake us, and Your ability to change those curses into blessings when we turn to You. Lord, give us Your power to remove the things and people from our lives that bring curses upon us and help us know Your will and follow it so we can receive those blessings You have waiting for us. In Jesus' name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
